Top 10 Must-Own PSone Classics For The Vita

GR: So the PlayStation Vita has finally gotten PSone Classics support (it's only taken Sony, what like six months?) and we here at GameRevolution can't wait to take some of those good old titles with us on the go. As such, we've taken it upon ourselves to put together a handy little list of the top 10 PSone games that we think are the absolute must-buys for the Vita.

While Sony has yet to make the entire library of titles available for the handheld, we went ahead and included all of our favorites, even if they don't happen to be available right now. Now that they've finally issued the PSone update, the rest of the titles can't be far off anyway, at least I hope.

So here they are, in a very specific and deliberate order.

Great list. Really something for everyone here.

Thanks. It's tough to keep it diverse with so many fantastic RPGs.

like the author of this article I will also never forget the meryl Codec code on the back of the case.......BECAUSE I FIRST RENTED THE GAME LOL. I had no idea about what case tehy were talking about and it was at the blockbuster anyways so i ended up trying all the codecs till I found the right one.

I also remember psycho mantis killing me over and over before i found out to switch the controller. That was before the internet was everywhere and had every answer so I cant even remember how I figured out to switch the controller. It must have been in one of those things i used to read with all the words and pictures about games. They were like websites but on a bunch of paper, what were those things called??

I got silent hill to play on my vita. I played RE 1-3 on my psp last year. I want to play MGS after SH probably.

40% of the list is Squaresoft RPGs.
They truly were the kings of that generation.

*Pours one on the curb*
Here's to you, old buddy.

It's sad to see how much they've slipped over the years.

No Final Fantasy 6 or 5? Disappointment. 8 and 9 I can agree with though

knifefight1493d ago

I think I would normally agree with you, but I can understand because...
1) There were already SO MANY Square RPGs on the list.

2) Those games weren't teeeeechinically pure PSOne from the start, they were re-releases from the SNES. I mean yes, they are GREAT games and they are indeed on the PSOne Classics line, but they didn't get their classicness from the PSOne.

3) There are far superior versions of V and VI on the GBA, actually. I know a lot of people won't like to hear that, but the graphic update in FFV was quite impressive, and the revised script gave its story a whole new feel. Really, I recommend the GBA version of FF5 over any other. Plus, the GBA versions have no load times, whereas the PSOne Classic versions are bogged down with them. It might not bother you, but it will bother a lot of people, and so things like that must be considered.

Yeah, I see your point for one and two although I don't see how them being on the SNES first would make a difference between them being on or off the list. Point 3 is true too although not many people have GBAs now a days so this is a nice substitute even though they aren't the same versions.

My goto FF is 6 (clearly) so that's why I personally think it should be on the list. I mean everyone's view for this list will be a little bit different.

I really wanna see a remake of FF 6 on the Playstaion Vita, we wanna see Kefka again in all his glory and he is the best FF villan.

Is FFV available for play on the vita? I got it when it was free from PS+ and downloaded it my PS3 but it didn't transfer over.:(
