Vita Revives the PSOne Classics

Sony is bringing back the games that made the company big years ago. And they're coming to the Vita. (PS Vita, Psone Classics, Sony)

This should of happened Day 1. but better Late than Never I guess LOL.

Y but the PS1 emulator on the vita is better than the ps3 and the psp. So it was worth the wait.

I can't tell which of you is right because you both seem to make good points.

Just for a second step back and view the situation objectively. You have a brand new system and need support for that system. In order to appeal to a broader audience you need to get broader support, so initially your target for the Vita would be the developers because without them you're sunk.

Now, think of it from a developers position. You'd want a free run for your investment, especially when the userbase would be a release window userbase, and the last thing you would want is for people to have cheaper options and lots of them.

Sony would have guaranteed that to those devs in order to get their support. In short, adding PS1 games to the Vita from day one would have made it even harder for Sony to get support for the launch and later on.

Anything that can help make the Vita successful in the long run should be welcomed, even if, in the short run, it appears to be a bad decision.

And in light of what I've just said, use that same objectivity to understand why PS3 game streaming hasn't been implemented either. Come on, you know you can do it.

9 games out of a promised 100 lol.

Pathetic.

Edit: For all the clueless (-Mika- & berndogskate) I'm talking about SCEA, they only brought over 9 titles out of the 100 they promised. SCEE and SCEJ fulfilled their end of the bargain as PirateThom pointed out below me.

It more than 9....
PirateThom  +   1071d ago
Wasn't that announced at Gamescom? A European event...

SCEE has 129 games going live.
SCEJ has 291 games going live.

SCEA screwed up.

Even worse, SCEJ will have 654 PS1 classics for Vita by 18th September.

You forgot Final Fantasy Tactics. I have it loaded on my Vita and am playing it now. I have to say, PSone games look astonishing on the Vita's bright and vivid OLED screen. These games didn't look this good when the original PS was out, haha. :)

Suikoden !....and i am 1 happy Vita owner....Now if they could only get suikoden 2 on the US atore
Jac5al  +   1071d ago
DL the classics on your PS3 then copy it over to your Vita. As long as you don't install the game on your PS3, you should be able to copy it over to your VIta.
guitarded77  +   1071d ago
Yeah, that's what I did. Haven't had an issue with any game so far.
Pixel_Enemy  +   1071d ago
Crash Team Racing and Oddworld abes exodus do not work. That is all I have found so far.
amaguli  +   1071d ago
SCEA decided to released the PSOne Classics in waves. So instead of having all of them at once, we get a couple with each PSN update.

Not saying I agree with their decision though, but saying they are only bringing 9 out of 100 is not exactly right.
CommonSenseGamer  +   1071d ago
Nothing wrong with getting more value from some classic games but for me its not a reason to buy a Vita just yet.
GribbleGrunger  +   1071d ago
Out of interest, would PSmobile and PS+ support sway you? As well as the games that are coming this year of course
Ben_Grimm  +   1071d ago
Seems we are getting a lot of the same articles about the PS1 games coming to Vita.
harv052  +   1071d ago
I can confirm that Castlevania SOTN is working, although not in full screen and I don't know if there is any options to do so...
PirateThom  +   1071d ago
If you hold the front screen for a few moments, should bring up options... I think.

haha yep, you're absolutely right!!! didn't notice it....

as for the 9 games available, I think they are only titles you can download directly from your vita, you can still put any psone titles on your vita, you just have to go through your ps3's store.
DivineAssault  +   1071d ago
This plus all the great games coming nx month & beyond already makes vita unparalleled as far as games, UI, media, functionality, online, well in every way.. Vita is in a whole other league than 3DS.. Its child's play in comparison but i cant deny that nintendo can sell their $hit.. I even bought the 3DS XL but theres really nothing worth getting for it for a very long time other than code of princess.. Vita has too many games incoming very soon.. I dont even think ima touch my home consoles for a long time
jjb1981  +   1071d ago
Is chrono cross a psone classic
Hicken  +   1071d ago
It is. And I think it's only like ten bucks. I've never owned a copy, myself, so I've been thinking about buying it for the first time.

For now, though, I'm enjoying Legend of Dragoon, and will be playing some Vagrant Story in a bit.
trickman888  +   1071d ago
Now all we need to do now is give all Vita user's , PS3's in order to access a lot more Ps1 games, in the US!^.^
