3.5/5
A beautiful living city, one of the best engines up-to-date with gorgeous graphics, tons of action like in movies and the best combat system in a sandbox. This is the best game I've played this year, it's simply beautiful with tons of fun. I don't agree with this score.
I agree with everything you said. Being a fan of films like Hard Boiled, Infernal Affairs and Flashpoint this game is damn near perfect to me. The story is an amalgamation of all those films.
Visually, it's the best looking open world i've ever seen. It's as detailed and vibrant as Liberty City which is a massive compliment but it looks more realistic. The rain effects are pretty special. The martial arts combat is all fun and the gunplay is the best i've experienced in this type of game. The cars and bikes handle great as well, which makes racing fun. Best of all though it's crammed full of entertaining things to do.
I didn't want it to end. Echoing your sentiments, this is the best game i've played all year by some distance.
Have you purchased the Velocita yet? It is almost undrivable due to its speed.
The Velocita is perfectly drivable I drove it through high speed traffic all the time. Lots of fun. Must be your reactions or maybe input lag / framerate if you're on the PC version.
One of the things I love about the game is how responsive and easy to control the vehicles are.
My issue is cornering. It's twitchy as hell under braking so on the mountain roads it led to a few irritating crashes. I use the Tuono most of the time for the A races. I also like the M3 a-like. Can't remember its name.
I like the Drag 969 bike most, although I wish you could get it from your garage in the white and black colour scheme. It is a Ducati Monster in all but name.
Literally just beat the game just now, the credits are rolling as I type this.
What a fantastic game. I loved every second of this one. The characters are likable, the story is grand, and the city is rich and lively. I'm amazed at how well the fighting and graphics are due to it being open world.
Definitely one of my favourites games of the year. A must buy.
I've seen a few reviews saying the characters weren't memorable enough but I don't get that criticism. Not every game is GTA and has to have larger than life characters. I wish games 'journalists' would get that.
Frankly, the story and characters are some of the most believable i've experienced. Jackie Ma, Wei and Raymond all grow as the story progresses.

I'd love a San Francisco based prequel.
