Top Reasons Why Call of Duty is Better Than Battlefield

Mobile & Apps: "There are so many factions out there arguing over which game - Call of Duty, or Battlefield - is better. Today I am here to set things straight once and for all. Many of you might or might not like what I have to say, but despite that, it has to be said. Let me get to it right now, Call of Duty is better than Battlefield, not by a very long shot, but long enough to be discussed." (Battlefield, Battlefield 3, Call of Duty, PC, PS Vita, PS3, Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360)

And battlefield isn't fun?? I still have fun with battlefield 3. There are so many different ways that you can flank the enemy and it actually has a true sandbox environment with a wide assortment of air and ground vehicles that you can, with full control, maneuver. I'm sorry, but I stopped reading after that.

+1 million.
The author is probably one of those guys that played BF, died a couple dozen times walking around in the middle of nowhere, and then decided it was the game's fault, not his.

Hahaha agree. Nubs can't adjust.

"However, as time progresses, the game got boring and I went back to playing Modern Warfare 3 like every other true gamer."

WTF? These statements need to be completely reversed along with the title. Is this guy delirious???

Got boring and went back to the game that at its core has been the same and pretty much untouched for 7 games now?

Battlefield 3 has everything cod offers + 10 fold along with a little extra realism. You want to play cod style? Play on the CQB map pack.

You might be left without things like killstreaks rewards, but again, here comes the realism. You wan't that air support? Try using teamwork and coordination.

You usually don't get magic rewards on the battlefield because you might have been lucky enough to be shown 5 targets... Pun intended.

Bubble up sir, the title of the article alone made me sceptical!
Conzul  +   265d ago
Eh, I don't know, I enjoyed this troll article. It's just so wrong *and* so poorly written XD
HSx9  +   265d ago
Battlefield has variety of maps, no one can deny that, what we need is more game modes. Call of duty takes the win in game modes, that's what keeps it fun, because most COD maps are linear and lame.
morganfell  +   265d ago
I am now dumber for having read this article. These absurd postulations literally shaved points off of my IQ.
Kopite_2020  +   265d ago
Bubble up for "postulations"!
lastofgen  +   266d ago
Sorry, but I do not agree. CoD for me gets boring within the first week of playing.
crawling182  +   266d ago
Same here. Played Black Ops online for all of a week before getting bored. MW2 latest a bit longer though. BF3 has kept me going for months now.
AzaziL  +   266d ago
Played the hell out of CoD4 and MW2, after that, it felt too repetitive. Definitely not worth $60 + $15x5 for DLCs ($50 with 'Elite').
-MD-  +   266d ago
This is the worst thing I've read in weeks.
STONEY4  +   265d ago
How did this even manage to get submitted.
iamnsuperman  +   266d ago
While some of the points are based on possible valid reasons, wtf is this: "Call of Duty is Played by All".
Sithlord-Gamble  +   266d ago
Not by me it isnt!
Hoje0308  +   266d ago
Should be "COD is played by the aim assist system. No skill required."
Kopite_2020  +   266d ago
I enjoy both, I treat them as different games each with their own merits. However, the latest CoD installment has been played for less than 10 hours then forgotten about whereas in the past I'd be hooked. Personally it felt like a step backwards from Black Ops. BF3 on the other hand especially on the PC is cracking. It still feels fresh.
Vames  +   266d ago
I expected to have a hard time with this article here, however, this is my opinion. I wasn't going to write an something singing praises for Battlefield when I don't feel that way about the game. It is sad my article won't be approved due to overly emotional fanboys, but that won't deter me.

For all who voted for this article to be approved, thanks.
PygmelionHunter  +   266d ago
Then why write this BS of an article at all? Keep it to yourself, if you feel that way about both of these franchises, that's fine, just don't write about it...
Vames  +   266d ago
I guess everyone who are ranting about how Battlefield is so awesome should also keep it their opinions to themselves. You're not making sense dude.
one2thr  +   266d ago
@Vames

5/6 people I know have stopped playing MW3 because I mentioned that BF3 is better(My opinion) now their telling me how much more better BF3 is compared to MW3(Their opinion)...

That 1/6 person that doesn't like BF3, plays MW3 because its easier to kill people and that going 32k, 4d with or without killstreaks is more pleasing than 11k, 3d with 20500+ match points... And oh!... "180-360 Quick scoping"

My experience with the two games.

There is nothing wrong with it, just another hater of Call of Duty. The game is fun, it takes no time whatsoever to get settled in, and that is what many gamers want hence why more people play the game compared to Battlefield.

Who wants to worry about gun mechanics when they can just jump into a cod game and begin killing people, all the way enjoying themselves.
Baka-akaB  +   266d ago

My biggest problem with you're article is that your bringing back up an old immature topic that's just trying to cause people to argue. Well sorry sir, but people have grown up since last year.

I'm not here to cause people to argue, and that's factual. What is really happening here is folks would rather see Top Reasons Why Battlefield is Better Than Call of Duty.

When articles like those are written, how many fans of Call of Duty come out to argue? Not many, even though our numbers are larger. And people call cod fans kids etc.
yoyo12121  +   264d ago

"It is sad my article won't be approved due to overly emotional fanboys, but that won't deter me."

Call of Drama Queen? Judging by sales, Call of Duty has plenty of supporters so don't act like you're in some kind of downtrodden minority. You can express your opinion just like people who can't stand Call of Duty can express theirs. Give me BF3, SOCOM4, MAG, and CS:GO over CoD any day of the week. Zombie mode is CoD's one redeeming feature now, but it's not enough to get me to buy another CoD.
Vames  +   266d ago
Drama Queen? Don't you think it is better to express your opinion in the comment area rather than reporting the article because the subject at hand is not about Battlefield kicking COD to death.

Emotions run really high on N4G over mere video games. We all love to play, but the line has to be crossed somewhere along the line.
PygmelionHunter  +   266d ago
How so? I don't approve those articles either, this is a news site, opinion articles should go through a more strict process before they get approved, and there's a looot of them just pumping up the diarrhea dial, waiting in a dire need for a flush!

MysticStrummer  +   266d ago
"Drama Queen? Don't you think it is better to express your opinion in the comment area rather than reporting the article because the subject at hand is not about Battlefield kicking COD to death. "

I didn't report your article. I didn't even read it. Why would I when our opinions clearly differ greatly? I've played Call of Duty and I know why it's popular, but it's not my kind of game at all. My comment about being a drama queen was referring to the part that I quoted, and that assessment still stands. You want to play the victim while you play a popular game? Go right ahead, just don't expect people to care, and don't pretend that "popular" = "quality". You'd be hard pressed to find a film or literary buff who thought the top selling titles in those fields were "the best". This is no different. Sales have never and will never mean quality. Emotions run high about many subjects. If you want to express your opinion, be ready for disagreement and don't try to play the victim when it comes.

I respect that you have an opinion, but be serious, your just preaching to the choir.

The point of an opinion piece is to spread your opinion an pursuade others to accept it.

You are not pursuading anyone with the manner in which you presented your article.

Your article was poorly worded, over-exagerated, unevened odds, and generally not backed by reason, but purely by stated opinion.

If you say "I'm the best" and give no reasoning, most will just consider you to be self-centered.
Rupee  +   265d ago
The thing is... you didn't write it as opinion. You wrote it as fact and made a bunch of claims without any facts to support them. That's probably why people are annoyed.
Hicken  +   265d ago
You SHOULD have expected to have a hard time, as your article is, quite honestly, horrible.

Call of Duty Multiplayer is Fun: Somehow implying that the millions who play Battlefield are, in fact, NOT having fun. Hate to break it to you, but I got bored with Black Ops and MW2 much faster than I got bored with BF3(was bored with MW3 before I even played it, so I didn't play it long enough to count it). And I'm far from the only one who feels this way.

Call of Duty Multiplayer Has More Options: The odd thing here is that the majority of players play most of the modes the same way. Most people in Sabotage are just going after kills, for example. In fact, that's all most people who play CoD care about. So having multiple modes where people do virtually the same thing isn't really a bonus. And Zombies isn't in EVERY CoD, so that's only a bonus every other game.

Call of Duty Has Better Single Player Campaign: No. Just... no. I can't speak on MW3 because I didn't try its singleplayer, but if it's anything like the trend that's been going on since MW2, it was short, full of explosions, and not really worth playing through again. The removal of campaign co-op is a bad move, and a six hour story just isn't worth it. BF3 wasn't all that great, either, but you have to go back too far to find a CoD with a campaign that was definitively "better."

Call of Duty is Pick Up and Play: That's not necessarily good, nor is it necessarily bad. There's virtually NO learning curve, which means ANYBODY can play, but it also means that being skilled is rewarded less. Sorry, but I don't feel satisfied going 30-2 when half the guys I shot were due to the auto-aim.

Call of Duty is Played by All: It really isn't, though. In fact, most of my friends (including more than a dozen current/former Gamestop employees, like myself) have STOPPED playing Call of Duty; many of them had been franchise fans since CoD 2. They haven't necessarily jumped on the Battlefield bandwagon- though many of us believe it to be a better game- but they no longer play CoD like they used to.

CODclusion: Your article was one big fanboy gush over CoD, and a big bash of Battlefield. Opinion though it may be, it's based on nothing except... I can't even say speculation. You might as well have written, "Call of Duty is better because I say so. If you disagree, you're a loser fanboy and you suck."

Even your comments here have the same tone.

You're free to prefer Call of Duty over Battlefield; I don't think anybody would hate what you wrote simply for that. But the way you composed your argument is how I'd expect an elementary schooler to "prove" he's right and someone else is wrong.
versusALL  +   266d ago
I never got the only reason why so meany people hate COD so much. To me its a fun series. Granted, it isn't as complicated as Battlefield and there are alot less kids but its still fun. I mainly play it to play with friends I know but that doesn't mean I don't love Battlefield(or think it's better) I think the only reason people hate COD is because it's massively popular with everyone.
Sithlord-Gamble  +   266d ago
People hate COD bc its the same crap year after year.

And IMO after playing other shooters, takes less skill too.
vickers500  +   266d ago
"People hate COD bc its the same crap year after year."

So are sports games (madden, ncaa, golf, etc.), yet you don't see people get angry and write hateful things about those games in their articles. They simply ignore the articles of the games.

I wonder why CoD deserves more attention than those others.
matgrowcott  +   265d ago
@Vickers

It's hugely popular and the majority of people who play it really, really enjoy it.

Some people are simple enough to hate anything popular, others are upset that every game isn't Braid (or something equally pretentious) and others just don't like anybody else having an opinion that's different to their own.

Personally, I got Battlefield and Call of Duty last year. Different enough to enjoy separately and yet similar enough that they compliment each other in many ways. It's really nice to not have to buy into corporate mudslinging.
vickers500  +   265d ago
I don't even really like Call Of Duty anymore. The last one I liked was World at War. Modern Warfare 2 was okay before people figured out how to ruin it with killstreaks and commando and many other bs things. Black Ops took out many of those bs things and was all right, but just felt kinda mediocre.

Modern Warfare 3 was absolutely terrible and I sold it pretty early, only got to level 29.

I'll probably buy Black Ops 2 because it looks different, but not full price. I'll only pay $30 for it (like I did with MW3), and if I don't like it, I'll sell it.

So don't mistake my comment as if coming from a CoD fanboy, I'm really not. I just find it really hypocritical of these people to come to CoD articles and complain about rehashes, when SOOO many other games do the same thing, even worse sometimes.
soundslike  +   265d ago
There are certainly things that COD excels at. Unfortunately none of those things are the gameplay.
emartini  +   265d ago
I think COD is a fun series but over the years with each new one it just feels like the same stuff. WHen i play cod i play a few games then i get bored. Its the same rehashed game every year. This is the reason why most are unhappy with it . It also doesnt help the countless of hackers that use wall hacks, aimbots and other nonsense exploits. COd for the most part is pick up and play but its also a game that markets greedy type playing. NO teamwork . All anyone cares about in COD is themselves so WITH THAT MENTALITY i can see how some nut jobs get obsessed and EXPLOIT the game to win. You wont find as many exploits in BF3 cause for the most part the game is about teamwork. Someone can go 50 kills and 1 death and still loose cause the game forces players to use team work.

The Author of this article prob put in BF3 tried to play it like COD and got sick of it cause he has always been playing the wrong way.

In reference to multiplayer I can't remember a time I bought COD and DIDN'T get bored within the first few hours. Battlefield refreshes the genre because there's maps for everyone. If you like vehicles and big maps there is a map for you. If you like CQC and like to run and gun...guess what? There's a map for you.

MysticStrummer  +   266d ago
I think he meant "like every other fan of casual shooters". CoD is easy to pick up and play, even for beginners. It's popular because it's easier to get into, not because it's better. Better is subjective.

Yea, I just about quit reading at that statement, but I trudged through it and realized I should have stopped there. Such a poor article, really.

WeskerChildReborned  +   266d ago
Although i like CODs 60 FPS and simple gameplay, i think Battlefield's MP is better since it takes more strategy.
Zha1tan  +   266d ago
Theres only one for me and that is in COD atleast if my team is absolute crap I can still have a good game but on battlefield its almost impossible unless im in a vehicle and well if my team is garbage its a horrible experience on battlefield.

You have rely on team mates to position so you can get into advantageous positions yourself and push the enemy back and well you dont need that on COD you can just run around the map and rely on your own aim instead of worrying about why 80% of your team is sitting cowering in the spawn with snipers.
xAlmostPro  +   265d ago
The whole point of team based game modes is about the team action/co-operation to get the win.

So it makes sense that if all but one of your guys is doing good the team loses.

It also suggest you, yourself are not very good at battlefield. Because you can still do well as a single player, it's just harder to get a 'win' as a whole.

I play both on a regular basis, depending on what my friends and I are in the mood to play. I do have some friends who struggle to get kills in ANY fps and prefer BF because they can score points playing Conquest.

IMO, BF is easier for non skilled players to help their team. Playing COD and dying a lot actually hurts your teamdue to the kill streaks. So which one is really for casuals?? I prefer BF, but sometimes a change is needed. I even play Reach at least once a week.
matgrowcott  +   265d ago

My reason bf3 is better than cod is skills, skills not like cod grab n go with kill streak that will get u half of your total kills, also I have been playing bf3 since day one and I still can't fly a plane but I don't need it cause I'm good w my feet on the ground. On the other hand with cod u start on level 1 then you prestige and starts all over again and if u get kill every ten seconds u just suck just like when cod player that try to play with the big dogs.by the way i try mw3 and stop playing after 5 minutes cause is unrealistic and it Looks like mw2. Cod= recycled game every time...Bf3 is for real skills players only

>.> I still haven't got the hang of flying a helicopter, but I normally swap and be a gunner

Same goes for hosts with bad connections on CoD no fun lagging out or having people pop up all over then you end up dead with a knife when they're no where near you >.>

DieKommissar  +   266d ago
Total bullshit. This article is a joke! I suppose the author picked up BF3 after months of CoD and was like, "Wtf, tactical button layout?" For him, and many like him, CoD is the new standard of FPS's. Anything different is viewed as shit, and any similarities are considered knockoffs. Open your eyes people, if Call of Duty becomes the expectation, there will be nothing to look forward to for the rest of us.
spektical  +   266d ago
COD has a lot of WTF moments. There are many things that need to be addressed for me to come back to it. Quick scoping should not be allowed. Snipers weigh easily over 40 pounds. To use them like a semi auto is wrong. Twitch reaction knives are a no go. etc.etc.

Biggest reason for me aside from fun factor: 60FPS butter smooth gameplay with zero screen tearing on console with COD unlike battlefield 3 which is filled with rampant screen tearing and runs at an abysmal 30FPS.
emartini  +   265d ago
What does 60 fps matter when it looks like 60 fps of awful graphics?? Dont get me wrong i have both but lets go over facts and not opinions. Bf3 looks better. Bf3 sounds better. Matter fact cods gun sound effects are artificial and made by a computer. Bf3's sound effects are recorded sounds from the actual guns. Shoot a rocket at a wall in cod or bullets. They magically disappear. The soldier movement in bf3 are real animation's of real soldiers while cods soldiers look like robots. Bf3 is 720p for console or just under and cod is really 600p not even close to high def. These are all facts. If you like one over the other or think ones more fun thats based on opinion Bullet holes and damage disappear and everything looks like nothing happened after 3 seconds. In bf3 everything chips away around you and stays like that. Destruction is amazing. The map looks one way when you start and when it ends it looked likes a war. Bf3 is a much deeper game.

The only reason you would like COD over BF3 is you if you don't like to be challenged.
matgrowcott  +   265d ago
Or if you have a girlfriend and want to play split screen. Or if you want a simple system in place with which to hook up with friends and play privately. Or if you don't fancy games that can last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.

There's a lot of reasons you'd prefer CoD over BF3, like there are a lot of reasons to prefer BF3 over CoD. And challenge, actually, isn't one of them. I find it far easier to kick ass in BF3.
