PS Blog writes: "Today we’re really excited to present the first official gameplay trailer for Killzone: Mercenary at gamescom. Designed specifically for the PlayStation Vita platform, Killzone: Mercenary is a first-person shooter that makes full use of the device’s graphical and input capabilities. It was built on the same powerful engine as Killzone 3, and it enhances the familiar twin-stick FPS control scheme with touch pad functionality for interesting new gameplay possibilities."
Who knows how much it has been modified. Obviously it must have been, as it's using different hardware.
When the time comes, I'm sure the graphics will prove themselves...but for now, take with a grain of salt.
the game sure looks good right now.
LOL. I really wish people would actually respond and communicate their ideas like that rather than just click a button.
But from what I see I'm guessing all or at least some of my disagrees are your agrees.
What would be weird about that would be if you agreed with me and I never disputed your statment in my original comment nor my yet to be typed response...oh, wait.
I agree that it's a great looking game especially for the Vita, but not KZ 2/3 status.
Its like those disagrees are people expecting a troll.
The game very well could be on a modified KZ3 engine, but with no confirmation from Sony, GG, etc. it could just as easily (and hopefully) be on a engine made from the ground up for Vita especially with the differences in achitecture. I'm just sayin, can you really trust this report?

Someone needs to change the credited URL.
With all the BS that gets posted as news on this site can you blame someone for being cautious?
I'm cautiously optimistic about the touch knifin'. I've always dreamed of using touch for close combat, but seeing it in action, I'm not ENTIRELY convinced.
KZ2 was much better than KZ3.
Even the scoring in KZ2 was team orientated...
KZ3; not so much.
Heres to hoping KZ4 returns to what made it such a great shooter this gen.
In single player it wasn't even that: when the best tactic was always to run towards the enemies with a drawn knife because the AI can't handle CQB, even that aspect is mitigated. KZ3 single player was better.
I say this due to the large disagrees.
IF the first statement is not the reason for the disagrees then does this mean people want the game to be dumbed down for the more casual mobile audience?
Huge library: why isn't it selling?
New games announced: but is it a system seller?
New apps/features: my tablet does it better.
Cross buy: won't drum up any interest.
Even here, he notes the graphics are nice, then follows it up with hoping the gameplay isn't "too dumbed down," insinuating that he expects it to be dumbed down to some degree in the first place.
And with his generally negative mentality in mind, even that "easily" at the start begins to take on the connotations of implying that the majority of games on the Vita don't look all that great. Those of us that own the system know that's not true, but his words aren't really for us.
I didn't hit agree OR disagree, myself. But I'm rather tired of seeing him in Vita articles with nothing of substance to contribute.
Now just hoping for a Helghast campaign in Killzone 4, loved playing the Helghast Hakkah in Killzone 1.
But visually, or texture-wise, the Vita and the PS3 are very similar.

There's no point in debating KZ3 is the better looking game overall. Both are amazing looking games tho.

It's like I'll be sticking a 64GB DDR5 RAM module on a 5 years old PC and then claim that a game is using only 1% of that total memory. This is pretty obvious considering the fact other hardware components are bottlenecking the engine.
That doesn't make it any less of an opinion, regardless of the creators opinion of their own creation.
Personally I thought Killzone 3 was much better. The multiplayer in KZ2 was just a frustratingly annoying unbalanced spawn camping chaotic clusterfuck, due to the spawn grenades you could place anywhere and spawn rape people with. It was worse than CoD in terms of how long you could stay alive before you got killed. If that's what a "tactical" shooter means, then to hell with them. There's no real skill involved in placing a spawn grenade and just all jumping in a pile and see which team can send the most people to their death the quickest.
Plus KZ3 massively improved the controls from the previous game, still weighty, but not unrealistically weighty like in KZ2.
The graphics on the other hand, I will have to say I like better in Killzone 2. They had it tweaked just right. I'm sure on a technical level KZ3 was better, but to me, Killzone 2 was more visually pleasing. Also I thought the campaign/story in KZ2 was better and more put together as well.
When there was a little explosion and that hig flew through the air and debris... or when that hig were hit by a shotgun round... Yeah it certainly looked like it. :)
Whats left to see if they have in is the AI and gameplay/feel I guess. I cant wait for more, cant wait for this game.
the PS-VITA is def the most POWERFUL gaming machine ever made
