5 Reasons You've Got to Pick Up Madden NFL 13

"It happens every year. EA Sports does plenty of promoting and building up the hype for the new year's version of Madden NFL until it gets to the point you can barely stand to wait on the game to release. Some notable features made to the franchise over the years include Madden NFL 06's Truck Stick and Madden NFL 2005's Hit Stick, and yet, Madden NFL 13 may produce some of the biggest adjustments ever made to the series. It's time to take a nice long look at this upcoming title and see the Top 5 Reasons You've Got to Pick Up Madden NFL 13. Get your popcorn ready!" -Amanda Dyar (Madden NFL 13, PS Vita, PS3, Xbox 360)

I played the demo on 360 and wasn't impressed it felt the same as past years gameplay wise
WeskerChildReborned  +   270d ago
Most yearly sports games i play feel the same.

Except good ole' 2k5....*sniffles*

@tentonsoftube: Madden is the king? Well. That's some well crafted marketing EA fed you. No other dev/pub can compete with them, since they purchased the NFL rights license...etc.

That's like driving in a race and all the other vehicles tires were blown out before the race even began.

You obviously haven't played the last few years of Madden because this game is leaps and bound ahead of the crap they have put out the past few years.

New Passing System, Realtime Physics, Announcers, etc. are just some of the improvements they've added this year. It isn't a perfect game, but it's a lot better than what we've been seeing the past few years.

madden is the king of football games, none really compare, thats just my opinion, people have others as well.
Omegabalmung  +   270d ago
Hopefully it is since its the only football game out there.

I've played madden for years. I must say this is shaping up to be the BEST in the series.

They took out Season and Franchise modes. They put Connected Careers instead, you have to pick to be a coach in order to play in a franchise like in the past, what happens if your coach gets fired? Do you have to go to another team to control? The motion blur is pretty awful as well.

I do like the new CBS style presentation and I dig the new announcers.

i don't buy sports games anymore, haven't for years. its like throwing money into wells. id rather just watch real sports or play sports myself.
optimus  +   270d ago
Wow, they did top 5 reasons to buy it but judging from the 360 demo i played i can list 7 reasons not to...

I'm quite shocked that they list this so called infinity engine as number 1 and touting the collision detection as revolutionary when what i saw had players barely touching each other and going down.

And if you play with the kinect how many times am i supposed to call timeout or hike before it actually responds??
The list in this article is made of things that has nothing to do with actual gameplay... Don't get me started on the forced sideview for punting that makes it extremely difficult to aim the ball left or right...

Oh how i wish 2k sports made a football game again, even if it is with fake teams.
NyGiants7  +   270d ago
Horrible reasons, IMO. Connected careers is just a new name for franchise and superstar mode, and you get to switch between players and coaches...yay...

Presentation looks like a crappy verison of CBS, commentary in the demo was decent, better than 12.

"new" infinity engine plays like crap and actually looks like it made the graphics worse. Plays almost as awkward as Backbreaker.

I'm not giving EA $60 for this trash game, better off just downloading new rosters for old games.
optimus  +   270d ago
Ok, so it wasn't just my imagination...i really want to get a football game this year since i haven't had one since 2k 6 (i think)... Which madden would you say is the better of the bunch of this generation on the 360 cause i would think that roster updates would still be working and if not then i'll just create and trade my own players.
NyGiants7  +   270d ago
12 is the only decent one this gen. gameplay is decent but has many flaws like qb trajectory, superhuman jumping linebackers, bare bones franchise and superstar mode. If you had to get a madden thats the best this gen.

Or you could download tecmo superbowl with updated rosters :D
optimus  +   269d ago
I forgot about the new tecmo bowl; sounds like a plan... At this point i'm hoping this madden turns out so bad that the nfl pulls it's license and hands it over to 2k games.

I was pretty disappointed by the new infinity engine as well. The promise of real time physics is great. But, somehow they have to strike a balance. Backbreaker was PURE physics. It was really good at that. But, the results were often ones that you wouldn't really see in real football. On the other hand, Madden 13 didn't implement it fully. Seems like they don't take momentum and the resultant force into account on tackles. I have been literally trucked by a linebacker that was standing still while I had a full head of steam with Frank Gore (not a small back). Plus, there is still the issue of the O-line not holding obvious advantages on blocks. D-linemen just slide off of blocks right as you hit the hole. Madden needs a COMPLETELY new engine...no tweaks or additions. Redesign it from the ground up. I believe that this engine (which seems like the same one tweaked for 10 years) limits what can actually happen on the field.

One reason not to buy Madden 13...EA.
Bercilak  +   270d ago
I tried a Madden game 13 or 14 years ago and didn't like it much. At that time, I preferred Quarterback Club (anyone here remember it?). Boy, do I wish that they had been able to keep the NFL license. From what I recall, QBC was waaaaay better than the Madden game that was out then.

#1. EA is a terrible Publisher, same lazy football game every year for $60?, no thank you one more time.
miamicanesruleall  +   269d ago
Anyone still referencing the 2k football series really needs to get a life.
