Family Guy: Back To The Multiverse Will Not Have Online Multiplayer, Local Only

Dealspwn: We chatted to Sandbox Strategies' Bill Linn at Gamescom this year, who confirmed to us that the upcoming title from Hard Iron - Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse - will not feature online multiplayer, instead offering up two-player co-op and four-player local competitive MP only.

"No, there won't be [online multiplayer]," he told us during the Family Guy presentation at Activision's Gamescom 2012 booth. "There is local [multiplayer], and four-player local at that. But it was one of those decisions that was made early on. It's kind of a game where you end up griefing a lot, and you saw in the demo that you can do friendly fire, so if that happens, I kinda just want to reach over and punch you. I don't want to be yelling into a headset, that's no fun. It's a game that perfect for enjoying with a friend on the couch."

Probably a good thing after reading why.
I remember a lot of complaints about NSMBWii allowing players to throw you off cliffs and such. Imagine the hate if it played online?

Even in games without friendly fire I cant play Team Fortress 2 much without getting called some degrading. I imagine it'd be much worse with friendly fire enabled

For some odd reason I thought this was supposed to be an mmo? Don't know where I got that idea

you're probably thinking of Family Guy Online, which is an MMO.

Glad they decided to impliment local multiplayer. More games should add a local multiplayer feature. It's the thing i miss the most from the good ol' Ps2 days.

@shammgod
IKR? I for some reason thought it was an MMO too lol

I love the convenience of online multiplayer, but some of my favourite gaming moments have come from local multiplayer. Surely, in this crazy 21st century world of ours, we can manage both?
