Do you agree with me that these five first person shooter franchises need to die?
This person must be crazy to think these publisher or developers are going to stop making their meal ticket games ,just cause one person thinks they should just die or cease to exist.
Dumbest "article" of the year award.
I agree. I'm not sure what this person was smoking. These games sell milliona upon millions. If the gaming community (people buying the games)still provide a market then by all means keep making them. Geese.
1. Need new article for hits. 2. Top 5 list! 3. Name popular games. 4. Poop dumb words. 5. Rinse, lather, repeat.
TOP 5 ARTICLES that suck the big one 1. This article 2. That article that claims to have a WII-U launch date and price and doesn't 3. thats all i got 4. ???? 5. Profit
These are all have great quality games. This person is just anti-big shooters and anti-large sales... These games have generally kept on setting the bar for everyone else to follow...
I am not anti-big shooter. If you read it I said the ones I liked but still think they need to die. Repeating games over and over is boring, no matter what genre you like.
repeating? im sorry but BF3 is soooo much better than BF1942 so its not repeating if it get better
I don't know why people think that making a new ip is somehow, automatically better. Sure it gives the team some creative freedom, but it certainly does not automatically create a better game. And, just because there have been many games in a franchise does not make it boring. The games and their gameplay make it boring. There are sequels that are way better then previous games and there are new ips that should not have been created. Such as Hour of Victory, Raven Squad, Darkest of Days, Rogue Warrior, Turning Point, etc.
Good grief Charlie Brown what a ridiculous article. Every game on that list needs to continue. It would be one thing if no one bought those titles and the developer was just burning through cash and jobs but that isn't the case.
The site has been posting ridiculous stuff for past 3 weeks now. They just prefer the 'shock value' hits as to...well you know...writing something.
I disagree. There're plenty of good, thoughtful articles. The only problem is, when posted on N4G, they don't get any damned attention. You've probably never even seen them, because when you scroll through the lists, all you click on is the "shock value" articles you seem to hate so much.
All I've seen from them is 'how not to act like a creep' and some half arsed article about how 'girl gamers exist' and lists like this, that's it. So yes all i do see is ''shock value''. I get you are defending your site but hey just saying what i see.
And what shooters would be left if these died? Killzone? I do love killzone but come on. Ignorant article.
Looking forward to Rainbow 6 Patriots.
There can never be too much Halo.
the need to remake HALO 2 like they did HALO ANNIVERSARY. That was by far my favourite Halo game and i don't even know why because i started with HALO 3, then played 1 and 2.
So basically every first person shooter needs to die or the relevant ones , Seems legit
Types of articles that need to die....ones like this.
I would have taken this article seriously if COD was at least in the number 2 spot.
They aren't in a specific order.
He wasn't serious.
Instead of saying an game series needs to die why not just not buy it? If you don't like it ignore it. I hardly ever buy FPS games. They bore me. It looks like a lot of people like them. If the games don't sell they'll die.
The only one i agree with on this list is COD but it doesn't need to die just take a break.
why a break? there are 2 franchises running in parallel. MW and Black OPS. Black ops is still going but MW is pretty much done. It is soon time for a new engine, but personally i do like the story and the action of both. I haven't taken MW3 online at all, black ops just a bit so i am honestly liking the stories
Because it's still the Call of Duty franchise, with virtually identical mechanics, releasing on a yearly basis. Even if I weren't disenchanted with the series- as I currently am- I'd want a little more time between the games. One Call of Duty every other year. That way the mechanics and gameplay changes feel that much more potent because it's been so long since the last one; having some ACTUAL time between them would make the return that much more enjoyable. I don't think the series needs to die, but I believe a year off would go a long way towards making the game feel fresh every outing. And it would give the developers real time to improve upon each game.
Five types of articles that need to die: 1. COD Hating articles 2. "Things that need to die" 3. Sony sucks articles 4. XBLA vs PSN articles 5. Sony is poor articles
So of all the crappy generic horrible FPS franchise's to kill off..... He wants to get rid of the only 2 that are actually GOOD ? And this man gets paid for his opinion ? I just read some stuff at Rant earlier that caught my attention as well....but for the same dumb reasons. They just want to get hits....they don't actually have very many good articles ever written. I've only known of the site through here and found out about it like 3-4 days ago....Everything from there is Ignorant or over exaggerated. People like him are giving people ideas that are not smart. There are now probably at least a couple thousand idiots out there now who are like " This guy is a genius "... These are the same people who want to get rid of Fifa and madden...by comparing them as if they are the same. Madden I get......but not Fifa...
I highly doubt this author gets paid in any substantial way.
the author is female.
What does being female have to do with anything? I DO play these games.
COD nuff said.
Ghost Recon is third person One that really needs to die is James Bond. The series has been dead but they keep pumping out games. Instead of ones that need to die how about ones that need to be revived Rainbow six Time splitters Perfect Dark Turok Unreal Tourney
Ghost recon used to be 1st person.
Doom.... F***** DOOM?!?! A franchise that has seen 3 games over a 15 year span?!?!?! *rages and leaves*
considering a female wrote this i wont judge, oh wait i just did
So kill off all successful selling shooter franchise cash cows that produce huge profits? Killing off successful business projects is straight from the illogical Communist/Marxist play book.
The "Need to die" articles need to die..
Doom will NEVER die.
How to write a dumb article on FPS games in 5 steps: 1) Complain about Halo and how Mater Chief is used, dies, come back, etc where in fact he wasn't actually part of the series ever since 2007. Also complain about fighting against the covenant when the new game was clearly set to fight against a new faction. Too prove how ignorant you are of this series, please also attach a screenshot from an RTS game. 2) Complain about the Ghost Recon series of FPS games, while completely ignoring the fact that all the games since GRAW where in fact not first-person. 3) Complain about the over-saturation of Doom, A game which saw only 3 releases over two decades - the last one is almost 10 years old. 4) Complain about battlefield & Call of Duty because these are the two most popular online FPSes right now and will likely spark people from both sides of the fence. 5) End your rant with the comment "FPS games are pretty much the same; shoot and kill the bad guys", which proves how twisted your entire POV is from the first place.
