From Heavy Rain to Half Life 2, 411's David McGregor counts down his list of the Top 8 Most Depressing Video Games!
Wow, I didn't find any of those games depressing. At all. The only game that genuinely made me feel depressed was Persona 3 (and by extension, Persona 4). Why didn't I join every club in and speak to every single person I saw every single day in high school? WHY!?!?!? That and when I played Modern Warfare 2 for the first and only time and was hit with the realization that the garbage in front of me represented the biggest, most popular, most representative side of gaming. Yikes. Almost took that cyanide pill I keep in my pocket right then and there.
Silent Hill 2 had an atmosphere so oppressive and depressing I couldn't replay it right after I finished it. I also got depressed by the thought of encountering P. Head again in that maze. I wish whoever made SH2 comes back and make another SH.
Should add Demon's/Dark Souls to the list. Tower of Latria and Valley of Defilement levels had the most depressing atmosphere, to me at lease.
Some of the games you mention are depressing in theory but not when you actually play them. They're not depressing at all. Like HL2, where in the game did you find it depressing? Also I think you're using the term 'depressing' quite loosely. Look it up
Depressing?? If you have issues go see a psychiatrist
Shadow of the Colossus is more depressing
After playing Red Dead Redemption. This song made me depressed. LOL http://www.youtube.com/watc... :( AMAZING ENDING SONG FOR AN AMAZING GAME :)
MGS3 had a depressing ending as well.
Silent hill 2 depressing? Nah. Heavy Rain, i didnt get the depressing play through. Half life 2, again not that depressing, bleak yes. Now One Chance, that is pretty depressing. Thank God I got the good ending though.
i agree with GTA4 because at the end of the game, you ended up becoming some emo russian. in the other gta's you own the city, you actually accomplished something. In GTA 4 this guy is in a shitty situation, and it just gets worse overtime (even if he makes more money). It was really anti climatic for me, and i never had the sense that i accomplished anything. after that i never played the game again because it felt like the game was never going to start.
I fully agree on Heavy Rain being depressing. It's like they made it for the sole reason of making people cry. Hell, even the good ending was sad!!! It's a great game though.
Gears of War 3 not on that list. Gears of War 3 and the death of Dom. Dom gave up his life to save his best mate Marcus. Dom was a true hero. Gears of War 2 - Dom losing his wife, Maria should have been added to that list. Gears of War 2 and 3 were master pieces of story telling.
