The Vent: A Difference of Opinion

Do you ever wish people would stop telling you how awesome Half-Life 2, Call of Duty or Angry Birds are? Like gravity, time and the spherical shape of the Earth. The actual fact is simply this: the majority of vocal gamers think they are great. Does that mean it’s true? Of course not, but that doesn’t stop them from preaching like a bunch of Born-Again pastors at every chance they get. (Angry Birds, Call of Duty, Culture, Half-Life 2)

It isn't so much about proselytizing (preaching). It's more about people being hostile, insulting the tastes of others, not being mature enough to accept different opinions, and rationalizing their own personal choices in the face of dissenting opinions.

All you have to do is look at a place like NeoGAF or GameFAQs to see how much all this negativty hurts the gamer and the industry at large.
