Final Fantasy XIV's Naoki Yoshida: "More people need to buy Vita" for a port to be worthwhile

GamesRadar:

Some slightly concerning news for PS Vita. We sat down with Final Fantasy XIV's producer and director Naoki Yoshida at Gamescom, who told us his game's engine is very scaleable so it can be dialed back to fit lower-spec hardware, which is why it works on PC and PS3. We immediately thought of the other logical low-end platform - PS Vita - and asked how feasible that would be as a platform for an MMO like FFXIV. (Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, Naoki Yoshida, PS Vita)

Give FF Type Zero on the Vita, like I would even buy this after the amount anger it got : /

I'd be more concerned if someone relevant said it instead of a guy in charge of a game that was an utter failure from the beginning. http://n4g.com/news/629736/... says it all. But yeah, if too many developers have the same attitude then I can see it being pretty detrimental to the Vita. However, in this case....lol? Oh no, no no no!!! Will we never see Final Fantasy 14 on the Vita!?!?!?!? That would have forced me to throw down that $250!

Well, by all accounts, the game is leagues better than it was before. And I'm certain there's a large contingent of MMO players who would LOVE to take their favorite time sink on the go.

Edit: He also says(and really, he says this first, implying it's the more important issue) that internet needs to be better, so that someone on a Vita isn't on a bad connection somewhere, slowing down the rest of their party.

Umm... I'm pretty sure Yoshida is the replacement of the original guy in charge. Yoshida is just re doing the game to make it actually playable. And why are you getting mad at him. He was asked about and this was his response it's not like he's bashing the Vita or anything he's just saying right now putting an MMO on a handheld with currently low sale numbers wouldn't be proffitable.
Emilio_Estevez  +   762d ago
Yeah, not really sure if this would sell any Vita's anyway, or even be profitable so they would think about making it.
Capt-FuzzyPants  +   761d ago
I don't think they were thinking about. Someone just asked him about it and he's right, at the moment it wouldn't be proffitable and it would probably have connection issues.

How are Konami and From Software sony dev's? They make 360, 3ds, pc, and wii games.

All the rest wont make vita games which is the problem. Sony keeps them on ps3 games and lets whoever they have laying around make handhld games. MM is making a vita game so its a start.

Thing is non sony dev's wont put a big game onto it until its a successful handheld with a big base. It wont get there without games. Either sony needs to step up with a price cut and slew of must have games or they need to do whatever ($$$$) to get big names on it. They couldve denied the ps3 version of ff14 unless the vita got it too which may backfire if square said fine no ps3 but im sure they need whatever cash they can recoup off that game. Play hardball.

Where in my comment did I ever stated Konami & Fromsoftware are first party devs for Sony?

I just said Konami has done its homework by making a game for Vita.

Fromsoftware has supported PlayStation platforms since PSOne with exclusive games.

please read carefully before commenting.
And dont be negative by spreading FUD.
Developers and publishers big and small invest & make games for new platforms even before they come out. You cannot scare them with your FUD.
Sony should bring back their old franchises from PS1 & PS2 and release them on PS Vita, problem solved.

Nothing against FFXIV but I think localizing FF Type-0 would be better.

I still wonder if maybe when the PS4 comes out if it would be able to run FFXIV. I'm still kinda worried about how FFXIV will run on the PS3, given it's past with freezing, frame-rate drops and what not.
