GameInformer: "The following games never achieved the level of recognition they deserved, but maybe one of these diamonds in the rough is just the RPG experience you’ve been craving."

I just bought 3d Dot Heroes a few days ago lol. Great game for 10 bucks new. Im also just starting The Last Story as i type this. So hyped im off for 3 days and im going to play the shit out of this. Id say Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia, and Xenoblade are my 3 favorites with Magna Carta 2 and Resonance of Fate as honorable mentions. Cant go wrong with those.
Absolutely loved Nier! Amazing game with amazing music and story.
I'd also add Kingdoms of Amalur. Not the same type of RPG but still very entertaining. And there's a chance people forget it because Skyrim and The Witcher 2 were released around the same time.
I picked it up with a bunch of other games on sale last year, but only ended up playing about an hour before ignoring it (and eventually returning it).
It just felt extremely clunky and old to me. Also very empty, as if the game was unfinished.
If it's one of those games like Infinite Undiscovery that has a horrible first few hours but then somehow transforms into an awesome game I'd be willing to give it another go.
Otherwise, if the rest of the game is just like the beginning it's definitely not for me.
Arc Rise Fantasia is not bad at all but the voice acting is horrendous. I actually read the text pretty fast, so I can tell what the emotion they're going for during the scenes, but the voice acting, following after what I read, just kills the entire mood of it. Well if you do plan on picking it up just turn the voices to off
I saw Neir in a few of these lists & decided to give it a try while the game is fun & memorable. The one thing i dont hear people mention often is the music, usually not a big deal in games but the songs are often slow & easy the first day i was playing I litterally fell asleep with controller in hand. Having said that though I really did enjoy my time with Neir.
just thought I would mention for those that might not be aware. Star Wars Galaxies is back up and running and for free! Some other people took it over and are getting it up and running, its in beta mode right now but you can play and it will be free, now and when its all rebuilt. Just look up SWGEMU.
as far as the games mentioned in the article, I never heard of any of those.
are very underrated games must buy for RPG fans. neir while critics were hit and miss anyone who has played it loved it
also anyone looking for old school old style RPG should really look into 3d dot hero its like $10 bucks and totally worth it

2 more from this gen...Resonance of Fate and Infinite Undiscovery... i miss tri-Ace :(
Sad to see so many titles on handhelds, wish the consoles got some love with these kinds of games. Cant be hard to port to XBLA can it?
Valkyria Chronicles revolutionized tactical RPGs. Simply amazing.
Sadly, Sega may not continue both series anymore. T^T
