UM writes: I recently wrote a post about the most disappointing summer blockbusters, movies we thought were going to be fantastic but ended up letting us down. I thought I’d try something similar with video games, as this has happened plenty particularly in the last console generation.
Some of these are slam dunks, a few might cause a bit more controversy like how I can’t STAND Halo: Reach. Yeah, I said it.
Check out the list below, and check back for another iteration in fifty years after we’ve all been disappointed by Half-Life 3.
Blizzard really hurt their reputation this year.
I've said this before and I'll say it again GTA 4 is the most overrated game this gen perhaps of all time
The last assinsins creed was not that great either.
Really???? Red Dead? L.A Noire????? *facepal.... *faceboot*
Say what you will but GTA4, RDR and L.A Noire had some interesting characters and some damn good story telling. + the physics engines and the revamped shooting mechanics & cover system did wonders for gameplay. Lets not forget top notch acting. Not sure what you didn't liked it, is there a possibility you overhyped it?

I don't care about the updated graphics or new revamped shooting. if the game is not good it's not good. MP is ok for awhile but it boring after a few days. Also it was a GTA game with GTA:VC and GTA:SA coming before it, i expected much better.
For RDR the sp was good for about 22hours but haven't play it since i finished it 2years ago. The MP for RDR was better than GTA MP but was boring after about a week of play.
GUN for PS2 was a far better cowboy game than RDR.
in my opinion best gta was IV becouse the story and gameplay and characters and missions are superb.
Vice City was great and it was The best one yet IV
San Andreas was graet in exploring becouse the map was huge & the terrain and environment was variety but in other things the game was normal.
Final Fantasy Series
Resident Evil Series
Final fantasy on the other hand, I don't even know what it has become, a giant pile of turd is a generous description.
Halo 3 ODST is a crime against nature.
Does everyone dislike Halo 3 ODST? Or is it just trendy to say it, whether you have played it or not?
ODST had excellent storytelling, the best music out of all of the Halo games (which is saying a lot) and had tons of atmosphere (night time in new mombasa).
I think that Halo fans (I am A HUGE Halo fan) are just as dumb as the cliche of the FPS type person. It finally shakes things up, and to me, let me know once and for all that the fanbase are generally not interested in stories and are fairly stupid when compared to people who prefer other genres.
Fable 3 havn't even bothered with. I like how he mentions it changed things from the 2nd and made some things worse. That's exactly the feeling I got when playing the 2nd (played it for like less than 2 hours).
I think the Fable series is overrated, I loved the 1st one, but wasn't interested in the 2nd or 3rd. Not BAD games, just not that great.
Halo Reach was great. He (the author) is just a HALO 3 FANBOY (the worst fanboy there is, they live to kill another noob online, they take no prisoners, they love charging into another player with assault rifle then beating them down, whilst the exact same happens to them).
I personally thought Halo 3 online sucked BIG time.Reach's was great, some of the most fun I had. If I still had XBL gold, I might give it a shot again (over 30,000 kills). I think that HALO 3 fanboys (uuuugh) just cried when they changed the gameplay up and found out that they weren't top dog anymore. Bunch of sooks who are worse than cod fanboys.
Some fans just didn't like it because
there was no BR in it. thats all there is to it
i love the DMR and i am glad its back on Halo 4
ODST has way better story telling than halo 1,2 or 3
some halo fans didn't like it because it took away the feeling of being a spartan and it was more on stealth
I'm surprised they didn't make that the article image.
I'd say Ninja Gaiden 3 is the most disappointing game in my book.
Man was I bummed.
I want a new Timesplitters
Unbalanced weapons
dual wielding shotguns
dual wielding period
cheap attachments silenced sniper rifles?
Killstreaks adding to killstreaks which added to more killstreaks
massive glitches...day 1 game breaking glitches at that.
$15 map packs
recycled maps and assets
exclusive deal with MS
I don't know how anyone can look back on MW2 fondly, like almost all CoD fans can for CoD, CoD2, CoD4MW.
I suppose if you're on ODST-denier then maybe it was disappointing.
A game can still be pretty good yet disappointing when considered next to the rest of the franchise. It's more a matter of expectations rather than actual quality.
All personal opinions tho'
Halo Reach didn't disappoint critics and didn't receive much bashing from gamers either, so I don't know what it's doing there.
I think Gran Turismo 5 would fit better in the list, with all the standard cars, missing damage modeling etc.
guild wars 2 will be effing amazing!
Diablo 3
Final Fantasy XIII
Resident Evil 5 & 6
Silent Hill: Downpour
TERA
This generation the disappointment was huge, all my once favorite franchise except MGS have turn to a pile of poo, but I guess was expected as all the original creators (Blizzard North, Sagakuchi, Mikami, Team Silent) left.
The only one who stay was Kojima, the creator of the best PS3 exclusive, a MASTERPIECE that cost 60 million $ to make but it was for sure money well spent.
I know im in the minority but i actually enjoyed both Brink & Fable III.
I had to look at my list to remember all the disapointments...yes i have a list, but my god hadnt looked in a while im at 153 games this gen & counting, thank you gamefly!
For me: Diablo 3 (was looking forward to it so much, but came with no PVP and such), Dragon Age 2, Brink, Duke Nukem Forever and Modern Warfare 2.
FFXIII - some annoying characters and was incredibly linear
RE5 - a copy and paste job from RE4 and a mediocre story
Resistance 2 - lacked the feeling of RFOM and was more COD-like
GTA IV - lacked the fun from San Andreas
Killzone 3 - based on its multiplayer
Uncharted 3 - based on its multiplayer and graphics downgrade
2)haze, 3)lord of the rings Conquest (EA sunset the online?),4) Resistance 2 (no weapon wheel but still play it great game),5)Wolfensein (could have been alot better),
6)mercenaries 2 (no online multiplayer) 7) Army of two ( control scheme messy) 8) Burnout Paradise ( messy aproach did not like it)
I was following that game since development
I couldn't be more excited.
Waited so long...
What a disappointment
Duke Nukem and APB are huge for me too. I was so hyped, telling everyone about them, then finally go put it in and was like...."ugh I better go hide in a hole for talking about this"
