Five Signs Gaming Still Needs To Grow Up

I love gaming, and I love the culture that’s developed around it, but at the moment it’s the emotional equivalent of a drunken frat boy who’s still stuck in his mother’s basement- complete with misogyny, dick jokes, and poorly directed rage. The problem lies in the fact that every child of the nineties who grew up gaming- every kid who ever picked up Super Mario World or Megaman – has grown up(mostly).

But their games haven’t, in a few very noticeable ways. (Culture, Industry, PC, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360)

Apart from the violence point it seems your issue should be with gamers not gaming.

I kind of think games are here to bring us to a different place. Sometimes they take us into evil and dark themes. Other times they are light and a place we can frolic.

I have to say that Fanboyism is a this gen issue. There has always been a bit of biased, but the hateful and ignorant behavior of people this generation has disgusted me. It's love one master attitude and the complete immaturity of gamers that ruin the industry. We see it in the media and the blogs. Last gen it was never Xbox sucks, PS2 blows...etc etc. Gamers just enjoyed games.
-Also last generation companies didn't pull the pay for timed-exclusive bullcrap we see today. Trying to destroy the quality of a game so it appears better on your system. That is just utter horsesh*t.
