GR: The videogame company has “refused to acknowledge” issues regarding “conflict minerals.”
not gaming news
Yes it is. A game company is refusing to acknowledge their involvement in conflict minerals that are used for their consoles and other forms of gadgetry.
way to spin the headline there. "Issues" suddenly becomes "involvement" If you had actually read the article you would know its something Nintendo is working on with their trade partners. See Nintendo doesnt actually make the chips and such that go into their products. They outsource that to other companies like IBM or Intel, for example. Now those companies have all started to track where their minerals come from to avoid conflict. How is it Nintendo is solely to blame when the companies they get their products from are working on resolving the issue? See now you just look like a hater because you didnt take the time to see what the real issue was. I am sure though you will continue to argue the point and probably resort to personal attacks judging by how you've acted in other articles. Again Nintendo doesnt buy the materials so why should they report to another company about it? Their trade partners are actually doing the buying and are now tracking where they come from.
Not to worry Mac. I'll take this one. @ Freak: Don't you find it shameful that Nintendo doesn't so much as look into this? If it bothered them wouldn't they at least do that. Granted, shameful things don't seem to bother you. After all how many accounts have you created here in the last month? Is it that you think people are stupid (they're not you know) or that you're smart (Yeah you know what goes here)? No, no. It's OK. You don't have to answer and I'm sure that when the mod's ban your multi-havin'-ass again you'll continue using your, err, "system" (yeah let's go with that) and we'll see you right back here. So till then I hope you get what you need. ;)
Again someone didnt read the article. Beyond that everything else you said was a waste of your time because you didnt comprehend the article. " Nintendo, however, issued a statement to CNN which said that the company “outsources the manufacture and assembly of all Nintendo products to our production partners and therefore is not directly involved in the sourcing of raw materials that are ultimately used in our products." "We nonetheless take our social responsibilities as a global company very seriously and expect our production partners to do the same." but please continue the childish excuses and personal attacks about me because you failed to read the article. Looking into your post history you seem to attack anyone and everyone who doesnt agree with you with some BS about"multi accounts." Seems you have some deep personally issues. I never use ignore so in 15 years of being online you will be the first one ever to be added to it. I can understand not agreeing with the facts presented in the article but I try to stay clear of people with the deep seeded emotional problems that you seem to have. Sorry not everyone loves Sony or hates Nintendo but you have to be pretty small minded to think they are all the exact same person with multi accounts.
@ Freak take two: "Again someone didnt read the article. Beyond that everything else you said was a waste of your time because you didnt comprehend the article. " Nintendo, however, issued a statement to CNN which said that the company “outsources the manufacture and assembly of all Nintendo products to our production partners and therefore is not directly involved in the sourcing of raw materials that are ultimately used in our products." "We nonetheless take our social responsibilities as a global company very seriously and expect our production partners to do the same." but please continue the childish excuses and personal attacks about me because you failed to read the article." I thought I'd quote you just to drive this next bit home: "Nintendo is, I believe, the only company that has basically refused to acknowledge the issue or demonstrate they are making any sort of effort on it," said Sasha Lezhnev, senior policy analyst at the Enough Project. "And this is despite a good two years of trying to get in contact with them." Here's the original article which the quote is from (cause having a grasp of what you're talking about is usually a good thing): : http://edition.cnn.com/2012... I know right. You clenched your glutes mighty tight on that one. Not to worry, it's natural when someone puts their foot in "yo ass". Now, you were saying? Edit: That's all I had to do to get you to ignore me? Happy days! By the way, do you think anybody bought you not being a multi? That last bit was gold too.(LOL. Projection much?) Edit2 @ Freak below: That's your victory?! That you reply to a post you can't see and therefore didn't know was there? I didn't reply to you post (I couldn't, I replied to Macs') so the only way you could know it was there is to "see it". Top job there freak. Once again you've proven yourself to be full of it. Here's you quote from below "I see someone doesnt understand what ignore is either...LMAO.. Oh great post there dude. Too bad I'll never see it." *smh*
I see someone doesnt understand what ignore is either...LMAO.. Oh great post there dude. Too bad I'll never see it.
lmao, nintendo's comments are pretty much saying they don't care about how their partners get their resources, just as long as they get the cheap goods. "outsources the manufacture and assembly of all Nintendo products to our production partners and therefore is not directly involved in the sourcing of raw materials that are ultimately used in our products." - we dont care bc we're not involved. "We nonetheless take our social responsibilities as a global company very seriously and expect our production partners to do the same."- we Hope they dont get the minerals from the congo, but they probably do... still we dont care bc we get cheap goods. freak you probably work for nintendo, gt*o of here with that bs. that's real shitty nintendo. not only is there a war over these minerals, little kids as young as Six are being forced to fight in it.
Nintendo don't make their own products bit like Apple don't make their own products either. Overall this servey is silly the darfur war which this is mainly about, the same war that had that other group whinge about kony, the same war that's been going on for the last 15 - 20 years straight but no one really cares much because it's all in africa. It's silly to say companies need to source stuff from non war based countries because platinum is a rare mineral. Which comes from that same war torn area but if you want to get it from a non war torn area you'd have to pay the north Korean's to get some because they have the highest amount of it in the world. Platinum is used in cars catalytic convertors. And is only $2000USD for 10 grams of the stuff. So do you goto a war torn area to buy some or do you get it from a democratic and clearly free from war and terror north Korea. It's hard to say whats better, and those people in darfur war won't stop because companies aren't buying their minerals anymore too late for that to happen now.
I am shocked and appalled, Mario hates Africans ?
bad nintendo bad smh
I don't know how anyone can defend this, straight up insanity to think Nintendo has no responsibility and shouldn't take any of the blame. DEAD AFRICANS MADE YOUR HARDWARE!!!! THEY GOT A FRICKEN ZERO!!! : (
Nintendo doesnt actually manufacture their parts.
If people really have a problem with this they should stop using their cell phones and some electronics because most of our shit is made with conflict metals. It is unfortunate for Nintendo that they wont publicly acknowledge this but they are not the only company that does this, they are the worst out of 24 that cuz they dont acknowledge this. Nintendo gets theyre parts from others and those others prolly have lots more buyers other than nintendo. U guys should not direct this to nintendo, but all companies that gget conflict metals. Not just Nintendo should find a better way, other companies as well.
Thank you I was about to make a post saying the same thing but I see you already did. Most people these days are too ignorant and ill informed to know this though, just about any commercially successful business is guilty of this. If your all going to start making a big deal of this you better start boycotting pretty much all major electronics producers such as Apple, Sony, Microsoft and the list goes on..
Isn't this basically like the last time these kind of stories came out. Like the hazardous materials survey where nintendo scored lowest only because they didn't bother to respond to the group inquiring?
Nintendo is the lowest ranked company for conflict minerals. No wonder their products have a cheapness to them and the never ending barrage of shipped units. I always wondered why in every store that sells consoles the Nintendo section is stacked to the balls in its shelves, oh Nintendo you clever fox.
its more cost efficient to nintendo to get what they want... MONEY
