Eurogamer:

Eye-catching Team Ico title still alive, Yoshida confirms.

What's happening with The Last Guardian, the eye-catching PlayStation 3 exclusive once due out late 2011?

We asked Sony Worldwide Studios chief Shuhei Yoshida that same question during an interview at Gamescom today.

I really hope its not a massive mess of a game when it's released, I'm guessing late 2013 release. It still looks good.

FinaLXiii1382d ago

it wont be as long Sony keeps supporting the game.

Glass half full grasshopper, I look at it as this is a good thing. They aren't pushing it out the door half-finished, they are making sure things are up to snuff. A lot of devs now a days have no problem pushing something out the door when it's not ready, glad they aren't doing that.

Awesome_Gamer1381d ago

If it was microsoft they would've rushed it to the market 2 years ago..

Emilio_Estevez1381d ago

@ Awesome,

No, just no. For all the bad things people say MS has done, putting out unfinished games is certainly not one of them.

I have a feeling that their ambitions for the game outweight the ability of the machine to carry them out. It's a widely known fact that the ico team has been facing "technical" issues since the beginning of development. I'm very very disappointed. This was the primary reason that I purchased my ps3 slim and now it's probably not going to make a release until ps4.

It's usually primarily the publishers that push out unfinished games.
Although who knows if this is due to pressures from the platform owner.

Its good to see they are striving for quality with this title, maybe they are being too ambitious? this is never a bad thing.

so basically no ps4 next year?

HammadTheBeast1382d ago

Well, games for the PS2 and PSP continue to be made in Japan, so there is a high likelihood that there will be a PS4 next year.

Conzul1382d ago

I find myself not caring, what with all these awesome exclusives and whatnot.

Blastoise1382d ago

It should be epic, Shadow of the colossus was released at the end of the PS2's life cycle and was really pushing the hardware to the max.
So I assume it will be the same again with the PS3's hardware, and the PS3 is still doing some pretty damn impressive stuff (Last of us, Beyond) :)

I hope Sony didnt force the devs to change the game fundamentally or something

HammadTheBeast1382d ago

No, that's a Microsoft thing.

RARE, anyone?

Fullmetalevolust1382d ago

A big *sigh* of relief knowing that this title is still in development and will eventually see the light of day, or well the corridors of the inside of my ps3.
A developer diary would be fascinating to watch. I actually want to know, perhaps in detail, most of the obstacles they had to face to create this game. It'd be a sweet documentary if they could place it on the disc.

garos821382d ago

agree totally god of war 3 does this great. alot of videos and movies esplaining all the stuff santa monica went through to get the game to where it was

DA_SHREDDER1382d ago (Edited 1382d ago )

Sony, I love you, but, seriously, um, all that money you could have used to get yourself out of the red? Or hired a team to compete against GTA or Skyrim/Fallout? A big "sigh" indeed Full. Indeed.

Edit. Better yet, spent that money to get phantasy star online on the ps3.
