EA Considering Cross Buy for Need for Speed Most Wanted

"EA is considering utilizing Sony’s Cross Buy program for Need for Speed: Most Wanted. Cross Buy, which Sony announced earlier today, offers the Vita version of a game for free to customers who purchase it on PlayStation 3. Since Need for Speed: Most Wanted will be coming to both platforms, we reached out to EA to find out what they think."

What EA should do and i imagine some will disagree with, is those who buy the Playstation 3 version through PSN get the Vita version for free. This way they can control the content (and pricing) and erase piracy and the used game market. It's these sort of incentives they need to start putting in place to convince consumers to adopt digital distribution over the physical medium.

Honestly that's what I expect X-Buy to evolve into. While retail seems like a good idea, it could be a nightmare for stores. Simply return the game you got for free without a receipt and you net yourself a free $20+ in store credit for whatever you want.

Doing it over PSN will limit the sell to some people, but in the end that's good for business because it saves them from giving away more free copies.

FINALLY found a website that actually told you what cross buy was, and it includes retail games so with that being said I'm excited for it! If it was digital purchases only, I wouldn't care, but if you include retail then sign me up for pre-orders of every game that does it!

They already do it digital with some games. I'm not paying full price for a digital game just to get the other one free though....if you let me buy at least one of the copies in physical form then I'm fine.

I dont like digital, especially when you are in gamestop and see the same game for half the price....

I don't know. I don't mind digital. I'd rather have a physical copy of my console games, and a digital copy of my handheld games. So I'm with you on that one.

However, I've long since abandoned Gamestop, and their evils ways. Best Buy is my go to store now, at least for games I want to pick up at a reduced price. Like now BestBuy has a decent selection of B - A games on sale for $5 - $15 (Darkness 2, Singularity, Sorcery, Crysis 2, Bulletstorm, Kingdoms of Alamur w. @Gamer coupon and more), as well as a large selection of games for $20 (Street Fighter X Tekken w. @Gamer coupon). They also have random sales of new games for $5, but you have to be on their website at crazy hours in the morning.

I'd rather buy my games new and give the devs. some kind of support. Check out Best Buy if there's one close to you.

If you buy the PS3 version of Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time (through traditional retailers or via PlayStation Network), you will be able to download the PS Vita version of Thieves in Time from PSN at no additional cost.

yeah thats why im so excited for it. I've been looking everywhere to see if this was the case, and everyone just kept saying "it has cross buy" and I was like "DOES CROSS BUY INCLUDE PHYSICAL COPIES!!!!" haha It does, and now I want the game for sure.

I'm with you. So glad it includes retail games. I'm going to need a bigger memory card for my Vita. I'm guessing only the physical PS3 versions come with a voucher for the digital Vita version and not vice versa.

cross buys are pretty much gonna make me buy games day 1 no questions asked. preactically being able to take ps3 games on the go will is a very good incentive

Well , i hope that the vita Version will Not infirior to the ps3 Version as far i know and saw Sony Games Run on 30fps unlike the console Version 60fps here i m talking about battle Royal and sly ...So hope ea dont make a quick Port and try to sell it undercross buy...but i Don t Know i Have a Bad feeling about Most wanted for vita
