With the 1.8 firmware for the PlayStation Vita coming this August 28th, Sony revealed more details today that will be coming on the firmware, aside from the ability to play PS One classics on the handheld.
the controller feature is my fav. :-) i hope they do this for ps4.
I would like to see a feature that allows us to connect our PS3 controller to the Vita.
Controller, so does that mean ps3 games can be controlled by the vita? Remote play ps3 games???
I was thinking the same thing.
They just showed LBP2 being controlled by the Vita in gamescom. It's not remote play - it's like the Wii U controller tablet - you see more details on the Vita, but not the main game itself
How does that work? You're missing two shoulder buttons :/ I'm guessing it's only specific games.
@da_2pacalypse you have the back touchpad which you can assign upto four inputs simultaneously, a great substitute for L2,R2,L3, and R3 and then you also have a multi gesture touchscreen.
I wish they would add the ability to organize pictures into folders instead of having them automatically categorized by month :(
I don't have a Vita but maybe if you tap and hold on a picture and drag onto another it might stack them into a folder or something. Worth a try. I can't wait till I get my own Vita.
Yep, if only they would allow app support from the development community. I hate waiting for firmware updates to maybe get some features you're after.
Same goes for music as well... You should be able to make your own playlists at least. :\
you will be able to after 1.8 (music playlists that is) it's on EU PS Blog
AMAZING, it sounds like, maybe, the cross controller feature may lead to ps3 content being played with the vita and a ps3 controller?!
Nice.. But I was expecting the "significant improvements/fixes to the browser" to be included in this firmware update.. :( Guess we'll see 'em in the next one.
I second that, I want the HTML5 to work for videos in the browser.
They should just change there Internet browser into Google Chrome, seeing as Sony and Google have such a strong partnership.
It looks like the PS one classics will be rolled out over time. :(
Just to clarify... Will you only be able to play certain ps1 games or all of them? Because with the PSP games you can play all of them but only purchase certain ones from the Vita direct. If you're only going to be able to play certain games im tempted to get rid of my Vita even my phone can play PS1 games!
Just certain ones Here's the list of games Sony has announced for initial support: Tomb Raider Final Fantasy VII Wild Arms Twisted Metal 2 Cool Boarders 2 Arc the Lad Resident Evil Director's Cut Crash Bandicoot JetMoto There are hundreds of PS1 Classics that have to be reworked for the Vita and have to be resubmitted to ESRB.
Thanks dude. That sucks though when PSP can play all of em!
Come on Sony, allow app support. Allow vita owners to chose their own browser, music player, video player, photo album, etc.
Too much freedom can/will be a bad thing. So far, the Vita hasn't been hacked; making it open to that extent would be dangerous.
Why? because a few people might pirate? Apple and Android devices enjoy really healthy sales of content on their stores and they can be hacked. If Sony ever want the Vita to appeal more to the masses they have to give the masses what they want. The masses are now use to much more flexible and customisable devices.
yeah but look at what happened to the psp....
"Apple and Android devices enjoy really healthy sales of content on their stores and they can be hacked" Apple and most Android phone makers only make the HARDWARE! they make money off every unit sold! try asking the paid apps devs if they are really OK with jaibreak users using their app for free and even unrooted Android phones can accept pirated apk! although pirating most mobile games are close to pointless still as they are already cheap. but those are PHONES and TABLETS, not dedicated gaming console! unlike Apple and Android, Sony makes money off SOFTWARE thus allowing it to be opened like iOS and Android is like opening the gate for piracy and publishers will not think twice about leaving it in the dark! why wouldn't they? they want to SELL their games on Vita not allowing you to play them for free! unlike the iPhone, iPad and Androids, Vita is a dedicated gaming platform 1st everything else last!
So does that "aside" mean "in addition to," or does it mean, "but not?" 'Cause I need some PS1 support.
I noticed something about Itunes in the features listing. Can anyone clarify on that for me? I'm kindof confused.
Interesting... rather than leaving the Wii U to flounder in the eyes of 3rd parties as the "extra effort" console, Sony has decided to make the PS3-Vita combo a crossplat target with the Wii U. ...now MS is the oddball to develop for.
wait so is the Vita itunes compatible? if so why not the PS3?
It's amazing that there pushing ps3/vita to the limit with the whole cross controller feature I can't even fathom to the fact that when the next generation of playstation is released what will it be capable of with the vita at it's side, and the PS Vita is barely getting started. Just like how the ps3 was released there was no games for it, but then look what happened! The Vita will do just fine.
That's a great idea for when there aren't enough controllers around. (it happens more often than you think)
