New Star Trek Screens and Trailer

Star Trek is one of my favorite properties of all time, but it’s always been hit or miss in all of its forms of media. The Next Generation games on the Game Boy and the Game Gear are some of my favorite gaming memories. Naturally, a Kirk and Spock-focused co-op shooter has me pretty excited. It’s no modern-day Bridge Simulator, but I’ll take it. Fresh out of Gamescom, here’s a new trailer and a screenshot gallery. Oh, and it shows off the Gorn, too. Also, lens flare. -Twinfinite's Tyler Humphrey

Wow. Captures the look of the 2009 film very well. Especially the lighting and camera work.

Unfortunately, the engine is producing lackluster visuals...I want more. A star trek game needs to look very good because the movies are always so visually splendorous.

Here's to hoping this game doesn't suck...Digital Extremes' last few games have been kinda hit or miss. This studio co-created Unreal Tournament so I will always have faith in what they decide to create, even if they do decide to tackle a movie game.

Odds are it's going to suck. Bad.

Which is odd. Star Wars suffers from the same problem: no one can seem to make a decent game. The odd part being that it would be fairly easy to make a decent game, simply by looking at past games that were good, and following suit.

And, of course, this game is doubly cursed by being based on the JJ-verse malarky. It's 100% guaranteed to be an awful trek game.

But, maybe if we're lucky we'll get a halfway decent shooter out of it.
