The Epidemic Of Delayed Games

In 2012 we seem to be met with an almost endless stream of delayed games. What has started this recent trend and why is it happening? (Dev, Industry)

Is it just me or does every summer end with a big batch of delayed games that where supposed to come out in the holiday season but end up for early in the next year? I've noticed this is an ongoing trend lately...

I don't mind the delayed games. I can wait several more months as long as the game will be more polished and bug-free by release.

Yeah, it happens a lot. I think some of the smaller titles might do it to avoid being destroyed by the massive AAA games during the holiday rush.
