KJ of Play Legit Writes "The metacritic scoring doesn’t reflect the effort Tequila Works put into this title. Previous SOA games had the same amount of game length, yet they fared way better."
(Deadlight, Xbox 360)
4/5
This years Summer of Arcade has been LAME Microsoft, there is no need for a SOA event if you have no eventful titles to launch. This year has been terrible, there are no Limbo, Braid, Shadow Complex, Toy Solider, or Bastion type games so I see no point for a SOA if you don't have the games worthy of an event.
Lastly, Dead Light has flaws and is getting the appropriate reviews, to say the developers should get consideration for their effort, as this review allude's to is moot, as most developers work hard and put forth great effort's, but it doesn't always translate to a great game. I guess the reviewer would like to see everyone have high metacritics because they work hard?
I'll admit I haven't found 3 out of the 5 games that I really want, so I don't get the 400 bonus credits, but Deadlight is really an excellent game IMO. I would give it a solid 8, but I don't do game reviews. I'm also excited to check out Dust.
Wreckateer, looks okay, but I don't think I'd actually play it. Tony Hawk was fun back in the day, but I'm a 35 year old man and skateboarding doesn't really appeal to me. I tried the Hybrid demo and felt the constant cover mechanic of the game was too restricting for me to have any fun with it.
But overall, the SoA isn't terrible, but they should have offered more games to pick from to get the bonus credit.
I agree that this year's SOA isn't doing well, but let's wait and see if Dust: Elysian Tail performs up to the level of a Bastion or Limbo when it's released.

Yeah, I never like when reviews have to bring up the current aggregate score within the review itself (something I messed up on a couple of years ago). Just do your best to compare and contrast what it offers to the genre and don't worry about what everyone else thinks of it.
