How Will Wii U Advertising Compare to Wii?

GenGAME writes: "One of the most unexpected things about Wii was how incredibly well it was marketed right from the get-go. It was easy enough for gamers and non-gamers alike to see how Wii had potential to make games more immersive and fun. With Wii U, there’s been a lot more confusion surrounding its potential to add something new to gaming. Could an effective advertising scheme be just the ticket to correcting this? Let’s give Wii’s advertising campaign an overview and see what it did right that Wii U might emulate." (Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Miiverse, New Super Mario Bros. U, Nintendo, Super Mario Galaxy, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Wii, Wii Sports, Wii U)

I work in retail and I cannot tell you how many people ask us "when is that new controller coming out for the wii?" The design of the system which looks similar to the wii is also a problem. I have faith people eventually put 2 and 2 together but right now nintendo needs to put some major education into its marketing.
