Yeah and no good games have come out this year IMO. Every game I've bought this year came out last year but I'm just catching up. By this time last year I had already bought 10 games, this year only 4. 2013 is already looking better than 2011 and 2012.
The game industry boom has been over for a good while and people still refuse to see that the current business model isn't going to cut it while the economy is currently on life support.
The "economy" is not on life support, don't be so quick to believe the crap economists tell you (especially the economists working for News Corp publications like the Wall Street Journal)
Fine then. All the economic turmoil, record unemployment, countries teetering on the edge of bankruptcy are all illusions perpetuated by Rupert Murdoch and his baby-eating cronies. /s
I'm holding onto my money much tighter now so. ANYWAYS, with Borderlands 2, Black Ops 2, Halo 4 and many more of those other games that aren't released I am sure people are holding onto their cash as well once their preferred game gets unleashed.
PS Vita below 50k for the whole month is the real Story. 130k for DS and 135 for 3DS. The Vita is on the edge of being dead or getting a huge pricecut that kills Sonys financial situation even more.
Unfortunately I agree. Vita's in real trouble and I don't think Sony has the means or the will to do anything about it. I don't think it's going away but it will just continue to bounce along the bottom for awhile. No way will COD or Ass Creed "save" it, maybe a small bump. It's just priced too high.
Halo 4 will swing momentum in XBox 360s favour as the X360 outsells the PS3 when it matters most. Multi-platform titles: Resident Evil 6, Borderland 2, Assassins Creed 3, Black Ops 2 due out in the final quarter of 2012.
More Kinect games are on their way and they will push both Kinect and XBox 360 sales through the roof.
July was an especially dry month for games so its not really a surprise that the industry was down. Maybe more of a surprise is it was only down 20% over all given how crappy the release schedule was.
I think its pretty clear at this point that some price adjustments or better bundles are going to be needed for hardware.

*puts away "doomed" sign*
Anyone who is surprised is a major dingus.

edit: oh. YOY. Still, with all the huge games set to release in the next couple months, I'm not surprised people are holding out.

What a nightmare the Vita is for Sony.
