The Next Generation of Controllers

GamerFitNation: The next generation of consoles will be launching soon starting with the Wii U this fall, but we don’t know what kind of controllers the others will have. We need to look back at the type of controllers that have been used in the past, to figure out what we need for the future. Over time there have been three types of controllers that video game companies have used to control their games; the keyboard and mouse, a game pad, and now most recently the human body. These three controller types have shaped the ways we play games. Each has their advantages and disadvantages, and those pros and cons will determine how we play games in the future. (Next-Gen, PS3, Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360)

I just hope for next gen they keep it simple, You don't need fancy controllers if there not comfortable.

I still maintain that a controller with a trackball would be the perfect compromise between the speed and accuracy of a mouse and the comfort and convenience of a gamepad.

There's an example of it but it doesn't work perfectly because the games aren't programmed to utilize digital input from a trackball. It has to emulate which is never perfect. Make a controller with a trackball and require games to take advantage of it.

It would be prefect for FPS's, 3rd person shooters, RTS games, and I'm sure many other games that are better when played with a mouse.

Whoever makes a controller like this next gen will have my business.

hope next gen consoles come with mouse and keyboard support native, i want to play killzone and halo rts games, real mmos in console universe like gears of war online or something

consoles are great for third person shooters and platformers and god of war like action games

rts, fps, mmo, strategy are really, really bad with a controller imo!
