Sales of PCs in Western Europe declined further in the second quarter of 2012, with the industry now pinning its hopes on Microsoft's Windows 8 to stimulate the flagging market.
There were declines in both the UK and German PC markets in the three months to the end of June, but France returned to weak growth, according to the latest report by Gartner.
PC shipments in Western Europe totalled 13.6 million units in the second quarter, down 2.4% on the same period in 2011.
Apple recently reported that it sold 4 million Macs during the quarter, a 2% unit increase over the year-ago quarter - although that was for worldwide sales.
