The 10 Worst Game-Inspired Movies of the Last 10 Years

Paste writes: Games are games, and movies are movies, and never the twain shall meet—in a good review. There’s some key element that is consistently lost in creation, and there have been more wrecks than many of us care to admit. But with adaptations of popular titles like Assassin’s Creed, Mass Effect, Halo, Shadow of the Colossus, World of Warcraft and so many more hanging in the balance, we’re reminded that Hollywood isn’t slowing its conquest anytime soon. Can they learn from their consistent mistakes of bad actors, worse plotlines and laughable special effects? We hope so. Just in case, here’s a little reminder with our top 10 worst game-based movies. Cover your PlayStation’s eyes, for god’s sake. (Alone in the Dark, BloodRayne, Culture, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Resident Evil)

Both Silent Hill and Prince of Persia were decent movies, I felt.

Hell, I didn't even hate Max Payne or Doom. They definitely weren't good movies, but I didn't think they were horrible.

Silent Hill was great and so was Postal. (Postal isn't even on the list but it was still great)

Doom was pretty bad but it was hilarious because it was bad so I guess I enjoyed it.

The rest, yeah they were terrible

Silent Hill was a freaking great movie, even if i didnt like the games i would have thought it was an awesome flick, i think i like the movie better than the last few SH games for sure!

The Hitman movie was pretty great too imo!

I don't really agree with Silent Hill being on the list.

Personally, I quite enjoyed the PoP movie, wasn't half bad, only problem is that it was such a good adaption, it left little originality in the storyline department and just turned out to be a retelling of 'Sands start to finish.

I thought this was a funny comment about the RE movies.

"its many sequels quickly devolved into even more nonsensical plotlines"

I would have had the live action Tekken or the live action King of Fighters up there somewhere...

Max Payne wasn't the best movie, sure, but I wouldn't consider it worthy of being on this list as the film could still be enjoyed.

Silent Hill is the best video game movie there is. It's not bad at all.

PoP was whitewashed but I don't understand why people got upset about it. It is Hollywood, after all. See The Last Airbender for actual racial confusion...

Anyway, how did In the name of the King: A Dungeon Siege bleh fail to make the list?

Oh...and I strongly recommend avoiding that Chun Li movie. That s*** is embarrassingly bad. I at least finished most Uwe Boll movies for comedy purposes, but I couldn't watch more than 40 minutes of Chun Li..

Lastly, can we honestly say that the Resident Evil movies are any worse than the last 7 games not counting RE4? Generic action flick versus generic action game. I see no difference.

House of the Dead stuck the rediculousness that the game had...so you cant say anything about that. other then that Resident Evil Extinction was an amazing zombie movie. Silent Hill stuck to the game as much as it could, giving it a thumbs up im my book, and Prince of Persia was NO where as bad as i thought it was going to be....actually enjoyed watching it. I also cant believe Tekkens not on the list.
