Wii still alive in Japan lol. They should keep making games until it just slows completely
Jadedz  +   285d ago
I believe that's the case
Remember - the Wii U is backward compatible with Wii software, so I have a feeling that Nintendo will let one of their development teams, develop software exclusively for the Wii until hardware sales diminish to a "stop production" state.

No one wants a PlayStation Grandslam that is fer sure.

Not Nintendo, not M$, not any developer for that matter.

They will do anything to stop that from happening.

That pretty much summarizes this generation.

I don't ever see the XBOX fanboys in Japanese hardware sales articles. LOL! They are always present in the NPD sales articles where they can be proud of XBOX and bash Playstation. XBOX just has "home-ground advantage" in the US where people prefer the kind of games that are available on the system (which means shooters). The rest of the world prefers a little more variety in their games catalogue.

Do you want to re-do what you have just put. "XBOX just has "home-ground advantage"" What is the Japanese market for Sony?

Any way good numbers for the Big N and Sony again but the PSV really needs something to pick up its sales as being out sold by the PSP is not what Sony will of wanted. I love my PSV and cant put Resistance MP down at the mo.

the reason is....
there is nothing to dispute. The 360 isnt that great of a seller in JP but it still continues to sell. What would be the point of trying to find an argument that doesnt exist?

The NPD articles are where all the action is. Mainly because it would be the constant disputing of how the 360 was on the market a year earlier and how the RROD had caused the sales to surge...the usual same old same old stuff to use as excuses for the PS3 sales in comparison.

Honestly, it really is getting old now. Neither side will concede and say that the other has done a good job in selling to the consumers this generation. There is no shame in saying good job sony or MS and hoping they repeat their success in the coming gen.

Nope, both diehard fans of each side would rather bicker over x system selling y amount of units and so forth. We are (at least) 6 years older now but you wouldnt know it to read some of the comments.

You are right and I have no trouble being honest and acknowledging Microsoft's effort. They really made their place in the industry and moved the centre of gaming to the west. However, I do hate Microsoft for turning the games industry into a dlc and shooter infested market. I am a really old gamer who started gaming in the 80s. I am now a married man with a child but I still play games as a hobby after a long days work to relax. I have seen the industry pass through various phases and I do not think the industry has ever been as much polarized toward a single or couple of of genres as it is today. It has become increasingly difficult for me to find good JRPGs, platformers, stealth action, action adventures and survival horrors games. I believe that Microsoft is responsible for the current state of the industry as they are the ones who introduced online gaming, FPS games and dlc structure to consoles. I do not understand the West's obsession with shooters, destruction and morally ambiguous characters. This obsession led to the demise of so many genres of games. In the 90s games were memorable, emotional, artistically beautiful, fun and many other feelings. Now games are just shoot, kill, sex, lesbian sex, gay sex, bikinis, dlcs, multiple editions poor stories, horrible soundtracks and underdeveloped characters. Games were heading towards becoming art with games like Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Xenogears, Grim Fandango, Oddworld games, Eternal Darkness and some others. Then Microsoft came and dumbed down the whole industry to the shoot, kill, destroy and enjoy level. That is why I cant bring myself to complimenting Microsoft even after their accomplishments as a company.

YoungPlex  +   285d ago
And people say Nintendo is dying lmao PLEASE! The 3DS XL has yet to be released stateside and its already breaking over 100K everywhere... DQX must be a huge hit as well to move all those Wii's, and lets not forget that its also a Wii U title so I guess we'll see...
