"With the Wii U launching this holiday season, and only a few months leading up to it for news to be revealed, there are some huge flaws already visible in Nintendo’s marketing strategy. We still don’t know the price, there is very little consumer attention outside of gaming circles, and the console does not live up to ‘next-gen’ expectations. The Wii U only has two things to rely on—its loyal fanbase, and the hope that its dual-screen gimmick will be as successful for consoles as it was for the Nintendo DS. "
Oh Lord, was this article written by a N4G member? Lol.
And it's crazy how some people actually have personal vendettas against pieces of plastic (consoles). This goes for all fanboys.
It wont crash and burn but I do wonder about Nintendo's marketing strategy. No price or specs and its august all ready.
I personally see the success of the Wii U being in the hands of Sony and Microsoft. If both (or either one) of them release similar controllers the Wii could potentially be a massive success. The reasoning behind this is then third parties are then forced to think more creatively about making touch based controls into games as it can be developed from the beginning and not just added for one consoles. I see third parties just making use of the touch screen for menus especially if Sony and Microsoft release next console without this feature.
Price and marketing is a big point in its success as well as what Sony and Microsoft will do (considering Sony is looking like it thinks the next generation will be cloud based)
A N4G member... like... you? :O
O-T
Using Pachter rule here, whenever someone says Wii-U will fail, stay cool, the exact opposite will happen, it's not like they weren't wrong before lol
do they mean the old 3do racing game from years ago? that was a good game and i wouldnt mind seeing a next gen (or current) update to it.
Come to think of it, total eclipse wasnt half bad either.
I also remember when the 3ds was going to be released and devs ans people were saying its very powerful, even as powerful as a Xbox 360 . People were even talking about how it supports unreal 3 engine.
Judging by Nintendos past record and the games shown for the Wii u , a person can conclude that its basically as powerful as a Xbox 360. Nintendo fans get so offended to hear something that is most likely true and based off of logic. I'm surprised that I haven't seen the most common line by NES fans, " power doesn't matter", and " all the consoles that wins the generation are always the weakest". I love consoles as long as they are proper with tech for its time. I would love if the Wii u was powerful but we all know its not but people's views are swatted down because they speak about it.
I would say we heard alot of things about upcoming consoles which werent true. I have no disillusions that the WiiU is gonna be a beast. But I seriously doubt its as weak as the XBox 360.
That is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard.
+1 for excellent trolling
I'm impartial and love all three, but Christ there are a lot of fanboys here.
Nowdont quote me on this but of the times ive read Shoks comments, he seems to me like he has genuine interest in this console. And his comments dont seem fanboyish and i havent read that he bashes other consoles.
Pull your head in turtle head.
Yes, he has a personal preference, but that doesn't make.him a fanboy.
Salamander and Jagged put it nicely, so nothing on my part needs to be said.
Good day to you sir.
Despite people always talking about bad specs, it seems the console with the worse specs always "wins", which is odd, aside from PSX vs N64
For example, the PS2 won that gen, despite having poor specs and the weakest of the 3, IIRC
Awwww damn this guy knows the final specs, can you please share?? It will put all this speculation to rest.
These articles make me want the Wii U to succeed at shut everyone who writes them up, don't judge the success of a console before it's released, do we need another history lesson with the Wii? weakest console this gen however outsold the 'better' consoles. I'm not even a Wii gamer but this sort of thing is what's killing the game industry, closed minded fanboys
No matter how outlandish they may seem.
For wii u to be true success 3rd Artie's have to be in board, consider this the last Nn console to have great 3rd party support was snes. Wii failed at that while succeeding at selling fitness, family games plus N 1st party exclusives. And don't tell me how many publishers are on board thing is we will not know till the system is it for a year or 2. Nintendo needs to support the 3rd parties and make them feel comfortable
Either case I don't think wii u will sell as well as original wii did but there is no way it will be a failure. But when ps4 and xbox720 releases it's over for wii u because both of them will kick some major as. MS leaked documents spoke for 6 GB ram so Nintendo has a head start but what if the day wii u launches both MS and any cut the price $50-100 bucks than what?
And for the 1st year all it will get are ports of games already out and you have to understand it will take some time for devs to truly take advantage of the specs just like every system that launches first time and are games that are good but their sequels or 2nd tries are where the system actually shines
Really though, Nintendo has a large and dedicated fanbase. People will always come for their exclusives, considering the console itself is worth its cost.
They are now going to be offering a full-fledged online component that will probably be free.
They seem to be getting along with most large publishing companies, meaning that the system should be well supported in terms of third party support.
Let's say, and nothing has really been confirmed one way or the other. But let's say that the system is indeed not as powerful as the new xbox or playstation. Well, from what we've seen, it will be pushing the best that this generation has to offer, while running native 1080p and with many games running at sixty frames. And this is only launch content. Like all console tech, there is much room for improvement once people learn more about the tech. For a large portion of the console crowd, people who really shouldn't be speaking of graphics in the first place, this is more than enough. The fact that their games will display well on their large HD televisions is all they want.
The title alone is dumb and the fact that Nintendo are selling like crazy makes it even dumber. it's like someone being bullied and when everyone stops there is one idiot that carries on and then looks stupid. This person is stupid. get a real job because journalism and games is not for you. if we allow idiots like this to carry on what will become of the gaming industry? we need to protect it with diversity and wish all the companies well and support them and stop this shhhhhhit
Break the locks
Nobody is taking you seriously, especially with your "Break the locks" gimmick.
The definition of insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
That's how I feel about your posts, the same crap over and over again, like you think it's going to change anything.
No one from Nintendo is reading your comments, you won't make a difference.
So how about posting about something other than Nintendos region locking, because what you're doing just makes people think you're a bit of a weirdo.
Sure there have been blind fanboys that instead of fighting for a better system have tried to fool themselves and others into thinking that region locking is not a big issue, but they will not stop me from fighting for there rights.
Break the locks.
Nintendo has been making consoles for 35 years (1977)... longer than Sony and Microsoft, combined..
They are just clueless as to what they're doing wrong.
also, they'll go with what's easiest... asking AMD to bring back a line of old discountinued crapppy CPUs and GPUs would be harder than just getting a cheap new stronger one
How before 3ds came out there were tons of articles calling it a failure before and after launch then it did really well. Meanwhile there were next to no articles about vita being an imminent failure and there a lack of one even though it's done much worse then 3ds did at launch. So strange.
Their money was made from software sales, period.
"Eat it Fanboys"
this is problem only in case of some mental disorder, or low to average IQ otherwise its absolutely irrelevant.
Excellent work, Miss Sara Swanson, I will most definitely be reading more of your stories in the future.
