GaymerCon is about uniting gay gamers, not separation

This whole thing is so ridiculous

"When people say that this is causing a separation that didn’t exist before, I disagree with that because what we are trying to do is not [be] subtractive"

But you create an event based on the LGBT community...sorry but thats basicaly trying to seperate gamers because of their sexual orientation. Seriously it's like they are trying to make out that they are so f*cking special, it honestly makes me ashamed to be part of the LGBT communit when all they do is try to seperate themselfs from the rest of the world yet at the same time try to fight for equal rights that they shouldn't be excluded because of their orinetation. There pretty much contradicting themselfs at the end of the day

Same goes for Gay Pride aswell...they try and fight for equal rights and hold an event to symbolise how far the LGBT community has come over the years but it ends up becoming a day where they seperate themselfs even more from the rest of the world.

One minute it's

"Yes I'm gay...get over it, don't my hot pants make me look fab. People are looking at me....who cares....NO HATE"

then

"I really wish people wouldn't keep bringing up my orientation"

"While Conn feels that current conventions such as PAX are very accepting and supportive of the LGBT community, he believes there is still room for change in the gaming scene."

Then why do a seperate event if you think places like PAX do a good job already. It's not like places like PAX go

"Straight event here promoting hetrosexual gamers....you guys in the LGBT community can come along aswell IF your alright with straight people.

but this Gaymercon just feels like they want to seperate themselfs even more. Honestly as a guy part of the LGBT community I'm embarassed and angry over this.

BUT gaming is the LAST place you would find resentment toward gay culture. Fair enough if you were joining the army or if you were a football player but gaming....come on.

First Girl Gamers...now Gay Gamers...whats next racial gamers.

We should all be treat the same

AsianCon - where asian gamers come together to do stuff only asian gamers can do.

BlackCon - where black gamers come together to do stuff only black people who play video games can do.

WhiteCon - where only white people come together to do the stuff only white gamers can do.

GirlCon - where only female gamers (and a lot of guys staring through the convention windows) get together to do whatever the heck it is only female gamers do.

OldCon - where old-school gamers get together and whine and moan about all those other ridiculous conventions I just named.

I don't know that we need separate conventions for different kinds of people, but I can at least understand his point-of-view. Still, is it really such a problem for the LGBT community?
