Rumor : Doom 4 to be launch title for next generation consoles

Gameguru "Many believed that Doom 4 was cancelled after being announced way back in 2008. But a source tells us that the game is in development for next generation machines and looks stunning. The more interesting bit is that this game is set to be a launch title for one of the consoles.

The Rage team has fully moved to the development of the title now and construction of this game is allegedly fully underway. Our source also reveals that audiences can expect to see a full-blown showcase of the game by early 2013." (Doom, Next-Gen, PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360)

Quake 4 was launched around the same time as Xbox 360, I think its gonna head towards Msoft's next gen console

Exclusive launch title? Well, we all know that John Carmack favors the 360. So it wouldn't be surprising if he launches it for the Xbox 8, 720,whatever. Rumors of having a pc running DX11 game and porting it to the next Xbox with no problems is tempting.

Once again, more hints towards the coming next generation. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Valve also announced Source 2 and Half Life Ep3/3 at the same time.

And @ those folks up top, Doom 4 will most definitely be a multiplatform title (PC/PS4/X720).

Doubt it. Considering next gen starts in a few months and they already admitted its not their main focus yet.

Thats what i was expecting, Next Gen Consoles are gonna change the game completely, in the sense that alot of Gamers will be turned off by How much DRM will be "Core" to the New Systems. Its always the "Core Gamers" that get used to sell New Gen Consoles. So the Industry will
bring out Core games Like Doom 4 , etc at or around the launch window to entice Core Gamers to adopt the New More Controlled Standards of gaming that we all knew & feared were coming.

Half-Life 3 was purposefully held back this entire Gen cause the Powers that be wanted to use it & other core games as bait to get Core to accept, buy in & promote Next Gen to the casual with how cool & fun its is. thats only possible with Real Core Games that they know Hardcore Gamers would kill there own Grandma to play, lol (not really I hope, but as an analogy)

Kinect failed why?, Core Gamers didnt adopt it, & why? cause there were no real Core Games that appealed to 360's Core Base of Gamers.

So I expect Next Gen to Launch or come out around Launch with an Avalanche of Beastly Core Titles to offset the DRM Era of gaming that will be Central & Core with Next Gen Consoles.
