Careful with ur tv choice i got a sony and it gets weird ghosting on text 101 cm bravia i wish i went for the samsung,my bravia is great on bluray though crap for games.
I have 2 Bravia TVs and I've never been thrilled with either of them. They are decent TVs but not the best IMO. Buying an LG this week to replace one of them.
I also own a vizio 47"inch and a 55" LED both are great tv's and cost me far less than a bravia of the same size and the picture quality alittle better.
That was the same reason I bought my old Full HD Sony LCD screen is because it included a 40GB Sony PS3 and a very very good price deal.
Still working and the colors at it's best as ever and have replaced 40GB HDD with a 500GB.
I was actually looking for a couple of 3D LED LCd screens - doesn't matter if it has active or passive 3D glass ( plasma is out of the lists' because it consumes and heats up more ) to put in the lounge and my old LCD I will bring in my room.
Went to a lot of shops to actually see for myself the difference between each brand available. One big point I noticed is the new LG brands though looking absolutely sleek are quite bad in their 3D resolution - not sure if the demo screen those shops and I mean a lot of different shops I checked out are quite terrible. Samsung is quite good both in 2D and 3D resolution. Checked Toshiba, Sharp, Hisense, Panasonic which is mostly plasma - all ok, a bit so-so. The best of both is still Sony, their 2D and 3D is quite stunning really. Only a bit pricey but only just. So I guess I'll be sticking with Sony - cables and connections are also a must that I did check-out with all brands, most I rate good to exceptional.
You noticed LG TVs looking "bad" in 3D, is because Passive 3D cuts your 1080 horizontal lines by half, in this case, 540 lines per eye.
This is how passive 3D works, the real bummer is that the 3D filter on the TV continues to affect the 2D image.
Sony mid-range TVs are pretty much exactly the same as Samsung, since they share the same LCD panels, but the high end models are worlds apart since they use Sharp panels. The difference being Sharp has a gen 10 plant and Samsung having a gen 8 plant.
But go figures, in terms of LCD, Sony's colour accuracy are still top, this is backed by all credible reviewers.
f' the bravias. piece of ish tvs that fail shortly after. my 52 bravia gets these lines across the screen as well as half of the screen being black for about 15-20min when i first start it up and its only a year and four months old!
nope no recall here. those were for old tvs models KDL-40V3000, KDL-40W3000, KDL-40VL130, KDL-40WL135 KDL-40XBR4, KDL-40XBR5. ive got the model xbr9. seriously read a lot of problems with those tvs showing lines across screen apparently the panel is bad.
Black lines across the panels are repairable by the manufacturer, regardless of an official recall or not.
You should seriously consider calling the service centre and demanding a free repair, depends on your countries consumer laws, but over where I'm at we have arguments that a TV should last at least 3 years irrespective of included warranty, as such a manufacturer should be prepared for it.
Are Bravias good? Has anyone here had any problems with em? I've been looking for a new tv since my 42inch plasma LG is about 5 years old and isn't full HD.
I've been looking at new TV's and I'll only buy a Sony or a Samsung.
I've also been thinking about a new PS3 cos my launch fat model is getting fairly noisy and I've never owned a slim model of any console.
what are you on ps3 # 25 by now?
I only have my launch console.
I think you have me confused with someone else.
Say what you will about the brand, the televisions are great for gaming.
Dropped about a grand two years ago for an LED television. Great picture, deep, deep blacks and a fantastic response time.
Best television I've owned, and no reason to replace it any time soon.
Still working and the colors at it's best as ever and have replaced 40GB HDD with a 500GB.

BTW the TVs affected were 2008 models, don't know how you could've bought it 1.5yrs ago.

If so, give me a different TV. Not Sony bravia.
Samsung or Toshiba plz..
