It's unclear what's been going on behind-the-scenes since inSANE's reveal, but THQ has now announced that it has cancelled work on the project.
(inSANE, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)
Guess thats what you get though for announcing it so early then expecting people to wait for long for it. It was announced in 2010 and it was expected to release in 2013 minus the one or two delays it might of had. You get peoples hopes build up at the end of the day only to crush them when it gets cancelled.
When they announce too early, the hype momentum slows down so much that people hardly care after a while. 1 - 2 year window for announcements is good as long as they release little bits of information on a monthly basis to keep fans informed of the build progress. I hate it when they announce a game and go silent for over a year. I actually figured inSANE would die with the lack of information and THQ's $$$ woes... it's unfortunate because it mean people lose jobs, and we miss out on what could have been a great game.
Well now you have the fans....and nothing to be a fan of. Games do fine when announced the year of their release. It's more important that gameplay and animations be used for hype than whispers and titles.
There's still hope for the release of the game, but I never like when development is put on hold/cancelled. It usually has negative effects of the final product.
Not to mention it sucks seeing THQ have to drop publishing rights.
wonder how far along it really was compared to where it should have been? Also, could it get picked up by someone else now? Would love to see some leaked screen grabs or video.
Insane was always vapourware. Nobody ever released a single screenshot (that i've ever seen). Just talk, teased development, and celebrity tie-in, via Del Toro. It was never really a game.
well soon in a future we will see some demos and everyone will say, "it look great why it got canceled " blah blah blah it sound interesting but we have to move on... i be they will be much better games in the future ... i will be mad if Del toro was working with a Sony exclusive with a first party sony team, but it was not.

Shame :(

*poops pants
I mean Guillermo Del Toro has the IP rights so he can do whatever he wants with it now.
Never announce and hype up a game that hasn't even been worked on yet.
THQ is trimming the fat and getting ready to go under.
Only announce when you have something to show.

Working in the games industry is different.
You should know that games to films and films to games dont mix too well.
Hence why movie directors probably wouldn't do "as well" in the games industry.
