The first Far Cry broke a lot of boundaries for the FPS genre. Many of its levels introduced a much more open-ended gameplay experience, allowing you to come at an objective from one of a dozen different directions, using stealth or run-and-gun tactics to finish the mission. Unfortunately it also featured mutant apes and underground levels that just about sapped all the fun.
Ubisoft was well aware of what worked and didn't in the first game, so they're really bringing things back to basics in Far Cry 2. The storyline, characters and monster simians of the first game are long gone. In their place is a vast African landscape that's rife with warfare and riches. And it's your job to become master of this land.
