Far Cry 2 previewed by Xbox World 360

From the preview by Xbox World 360:

"Although the game's a giant sandbox it's not all open from the start. The second half of the map is unlocked after twelve missions, and will be much darker than the first half. Once open, you'll be able to hop between the two worlds at will. The malaria hallucinations and combat 'freak out' sections both hint towards the protagonists' decent into madness, and having seen some concept artwork we're quietly confident that the latter part of the game is going to be genuinely creepy and full of scares, without resorting to the old 'trapped in a dark cellar with a mad zombie' ruse."

"We've admittedly only got down and dirty with the PC version so far, but after questioning the producer about the 360 conversion he said something quite magical: 'It's the same game. It will be the same.' Superb."

"Everything about all-new Far Cry screams quality, and the team is so passionate about their product that it simply cannot fail. Our only concern is whether or not the 360 can handle it. We don't want a scaled down version; we want the same load-free eye-porn"

exactly my concern (but with PS3), think im gonna have to go with the PC version.

Did you read this part:

""We've admittedly only got down and dirty with the PC version so far, but after questioning the producer about the 360 conversion he said something quite magical: 'It's the same game. It will be the same.' Superb."

The great news is that the Xbox 360 has the kind of horse-power to run games like Far Cry 2 and there is no end in sight. The games just keep getting better and better and better. Sweet.

I saw someone on the team in an other post saying that both the pc version and the console version will be the same in terms of graphics. Except for the resolution. The console version will run at 720p I think it was 60 fps but I'm not completely sure about that, maybe someone else can remember that?

here is a link to gametrailers if someone has not already seen it:

Never was able to fully enjoy the PC version , well because my PC had sucked, but I'll save money and get the 360 version. Shooters always feel right with the 360 controller.

PC = Xbox 360 in terms or architecture/ported code so no worries. Not sure about PS3 tho.

As far as some getting PC versions of games, it's kinda ludacris since we all know PC versions of games (given you have the capability to run them Max) will always give the better Quality experience. Consoles will always be Consoles, as well as cheaper.

to above...

keyboard and mouse is far superior to the controller for shooters. ill be getting the PC version...and probably a dx10 video card to see this game in all its beauty. it sounds like a lot of fun.

Understood, but it's really a matter of personal preference. For single-player experiences in shooters, I much prefer the convenience and ergonomics of a controller, on the couch in front of the big screen, as opposed to having my arms cramping up akimbo on the keyboard and computer desk.

oh single player games sure, controller is alright. but you get in a heated online battle, the controller is gimped.
