Another key executive at LucasArts has departed from the company, just weeks after the group lost its key development head Clint Hocking.
Company president Paul Meegan is the latest person to depart, adding to a long line of executives that have quit senior positions at LucasArts.
It's not a crappy game, therefore they can't make it.
Don't underestimate the power of the Force.
SWBF would be a HUGE game for any console. They do it right with clans and things like that... The game would be HUGE, and there is easily enough room for a Star Wars BF game, next to COD and BF.
I mean, look at the games Lucas Arts have now. They can't NOT afford to go with a new BF. A new IP would be more poison to the company. Just stick with what was good, which was the BF series.
More Maniac Mansion, More Indiana Jones, More Grim Fandango, More Loom...give me something other than Star Wars LucasArts!
Let's see...there's Fracture, Lucidity, LEGO Indy games, and...Thrillvile. Heh...not nearly up to comparison to some of the games you've mentioned though.
Believe it or not, despite the glowing reviews, 'Grim Fandango' bombed big and hard when it was released back in the day on the PC. Why use assets (that LucasArts might not even have) on a HD remaster of niche PC game that flopped the first time around?
And yes, I do own the game (before you ask) bought it Day 1 when it was released, played it many times too. Wish I could get it to work on Win 7 though.
Well, for starters.. It doesn't work on windows 7 and had real bad problems running on newer machines running XP. Even though initial sales weren't good, it's a highly rated game by fans and critics and there is a recent resurgence of interest in the adventure game genre with remastered versions of Monkey Island 1 & 2 and Broken Sword 1 & 2. GOG.com also has close to 18,000 people requesting that Grim Fandango be added to their catalog since it's not available anywhere for digital distro.
There's a lot of interest in the game for those who haven't ever played it, those how never finished the game (myself include) and those who want to play it again. I don't think an HD release of Grim Fandango would be anymore of a risk than remaking the Monkey Island games. A remake would also allow LucasArts to code the game for systems other than PC so they could widen their potential customers as well.
The good Star Wars games are few and far between, Republic Commando was on par with Halo last generation, why not follow that release up with a sequel?
