Ron from Leviathyn.com takes a look at what's in store for the PlayStation Vita and makes the case for why buying one now is a great idea.
I can give you 10 good reasons to buy a PS Vita. 1 Gravity Rush 2 Uncharted: Golden Abyss 3 Wipeout 2048 4 Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational 5 Touch My Katamari 6 Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 7 Sound Shapes 8 Oddworld Munch's Odyssey / Stranger's Wrath 9 Resistance: Burning Skies 10 Retro City Rampage Also, PSP games on OLED screen, dual analog sticks, non gaming apps, and the best d-pad ever created for a portable device.
So then, why is it not selling? And don't make me.laugh, "non gaming apps". If non-gaming apps is important you wouldn't buy a Vita. Anyway, why buy now when in 6 or 12 months time you'll still get everything on your list but for less and probably with a mem card thrown in.
Or why not just wait half a decade and get everything for like 20 bucks yea?
B ecause Sony can't advertise and no one has heard of the Vita. Maybe it's the name. Doesn't sound like a console. Too unrelated of a name. Sales would've been 10x if it was called PSP2.
@capt Good idea, a half decade wait seems like a good plan. Maybe I should have done that with the Go and saved myself $400 in 2010. In 6 months time we'll know if the Vita has found its place. Right now I can't tell if it will become another Go or not. Its simply not selling from what I can see. Games certainly don't feature for long on top 10 lists either so developers must be finding ot hard to turn a profit from it as well. @gins Or maybe if you're going to price it in the same league as a smartphone that most consumers will go with the smartphone.
Hey dont forget MGS:collection. Mortal Kombat and Ninja Gaiden
The wait between the post-launch releases and this upcoming slew of them was long and terrible. But I still love my Vita!
Now is a terrible time to buy a Vita. In the Spring, sure, it was nice. We were getting retail games and digital content. Now? We haven't had a single game released retail since June 14th. We've had virtually nothing from the PSN, and between now and October 30th there's only 1 release worth mentioning. Hell, the biggest "thing" for Vita owners to look forward to in this five month stretch is PS1 b/c. That's it, and we've no idea when this feature--which was advertised right out of the box--will ever be implemented. The Vita is a fantastic piece of hardware--but now certainly isn't the time to buy one. Unless, of course, you're a Sony fanboy or have enough disposable income to import games. Have you seen Japan's Vita line-up? AWESOME.
