Sony’s Adam Boyes has said the Japanese giant wants to shuck PlayStation’s reputation as a closed platform.

The story is too old to be commented.

“There are a variety of OSes,” he added. “But we’re focusing first on Android. There’s also Windows, iOS and so forth, but we don’t have the resources to make it compatible with everything from the start.” - Kaz Hirai

What resource could that be? Gaikai?

Google is Sony's best hope to be more open.
Also Google is also Sony's best hope for huge competition for Xbox live next gen.

Google mostly sells its services for free and Sony doesn't force ads upon us while paying $60 for a certain service as well. So for showing us ads I don't think Google would mind being part of the PlayStation team. And with a payment option no ads as well.

Now with Google's servers and services (and money) and Sony's PlayStation ecosystem and hardware the Xbox is bound to have a nice competition on both sides from the PlayStation next gen.

This can only be good for the developers as well as the consumers, since it would mean more games in general and more creative ones as well.
