Mincraft creator Marcus ‘Notch’ Persson is the founder of indie studio Mojang – but should we really be calling them indie, or are they, as Notch reckons, too large for that?
I've heard of Minecraft but didn't know what Mojang was. When Mojang is recognizable to everyone then maybe they won't be considered indie.
indie = independent. It does not matter how big you are as long as you are not tied to a external publisher.
Large indie dev team...
It's no different than Angry Birds dev Rovio. They hit the scene as a small team but I don't think you can look at them and think "Indie" anymore. Minecraft & Mojang fall in that boat. While they are an independent developer their is nothing "indie" about them anymore. They are main stream now.
Team size has no relevance to the term "indie". When they signed a deal with Sony to exclusively launch Minecraft – Pocket Edition on the Xperia PLAY, that is when they stopped being "indie".
lol....notch and silent bob two identical looking puppets who pretend to be real boys without any strings
