Robbie Hastings writes, "DayZ is a modification built on ARMA 2, a military simulation game developed by Bohemia Interactive Studio and released in 2009. The mod pulls the focus away from war to piece together a realistic, multi-player focused survival horror experience. Though in alpha testing and plagued by bugs and glitchy environments, it succeeds beautifully. The island of Chernarus is populated en masse by the undead. They wander aimlessly through every alley, around every farm, and within every factory. They are a constant element of danger."
The Day Before has been a critical failure that led to the studio’s closure.
A new document from Microsoft and FTC's legal battle reveals that DayZ 2 is currently under development at Bohemia Interactive.
Bohemia can suck it with their Day Z cash-ins. So nice that they did a bait and switch before Day Z hit PS5.
""DayZ", the renowned post-apocalyptic survival game, invites survivors to embark on a transformative journey with the highly anticipated release of Update 1.21.
Available across all platforms, this latest update immerses players in a captivating medieval world, introducing the formidable crossbow as a powerful addition to any survivor's arsenal." - Bohemia Interactive.
This is the story of a man lost in Russia during a zombie apocalypse. The story begins with the man waking up near the southeastern shoreline with no memory of his past. As the man wanders around town he finds the local houses and shops empty. Disappointed, he ventures towards the convenience store in hopes of finding supplies. Out of nowhere, a female scream is heard and the man is excited at the prospect of finding a companion.
Outside, the man sees the woman running. Running from what? This is when he sees the hoards of zombies running at her, hungry for her flesh and blood, merciless in their methods of killing. Helpless without any weapons or supplies, the man can only watch as the only companion he will probably encounter is mowed down by the creatures. At last she notices the man watching her, but before she has a chance to speak she is already dead. The now broken man has realized the severity of the situation. He realizes that he must be brutal if he is to survive in this god forsaken land.
After several hours of traveling around the land, the man finds a bigger backpack and weapons. Not just any weapons however, these weapons are deadly. A revolver and a crossbow mean that the man now has a chance to defend himself, but will he use his new power for good or evil? His moral is now at an all time high and the man now feels on top of the world, or at least what used to be the world. At last he finds a group of settlers near a warehouse. Excited by finally meeting other fellow humans once more, the man approaches. Suddenly gunshots are heard. The rest is a faint memory. The next thing the man remembers is that his human kill count is up several bodies and he is now a bandit. The man lost what humanity he had left.
Several days have gone by. No more survivors have been encountered thus far. He treats his weapons well, and in return they have served him excellently. He now travels to the airport, there he hopes to find a helicopter. At last something to escape this dreaded land, this prison of both body and mind. The man has gathered all the supplies needed to repair the craft but in doing so he has sacrificed several medical supplies and food. It didn't matter anyways, as long as he had bullets and an arm to shoot with, the man would make the trip in one piece.
Several hours after traveling the highway into the mainland, the man hears a strange sound. The sound is getting louder, and the man turns around only to find nothing there. The tension is now building up as an unseen assailant stalks his prey. The predator has now become the prey. Usually the monsters would have been shot down, but this time was different. They have adapted, learned his strategy. They are now sneaking, for they know that if they are spotted, they would be dead in an instant.
The sound is gone. Everything is quiet. What was that? That crackling sound over there? In the bushes? Suddenly...silence...
The man awoke with an extreme pain in his legs. His vision returns and he sees two zombies eating his legs. Gritting his teeth through the extreme pain, the man manages to shoot the creatures. Lying there, with two broken legs and bleeding to death, the man can only lay there. He usually kept himself from sending S.O.S messages because he knew that would attract fellow bandits like vultures to the carcass, but this time is desperate. That man is me. I'm here in the middle of nowhere. I am now begging for help. If you are near the area, please come save me. I'll make it worth your while, but you can't be sure of my promises. After all, I've killed several men, what's to keep me from killing you after you've saved me? Hope is all I have left.
Hope is what I named my revolver...
Every DayZ article is almost the same when written by writers who know LESS than ZERO about PC Gaming!
they all complain about the controls and inventory system blah blah blah.
DayZ is running on the Virtual Reality Engine 3 which is currently the most complicated engine out because of all the the things that it does at once. (Yes Frostbite 2 is pretty and more advance but it's not a Simulator Engine)
DayZ sits on top of the Arma II game which uses the VR3 Engine and the game is a SIMULATOR and thus needs to perform multiple task as close to real life as possible.
Yes the inventory system is NOT your average lame candy ass "guns, meds, ammo, etc" system cause your packing much more stuff than that while some is in your backpack and some is on your person. I like the Inventory system, took me 15 minutes to get use to it when i first played Arma 2. Also again this is a simulator so each backpack holds a certain amount of items/weight. Your not gonna be running around DayZ with 15 guns, 20 cans of beans and a Rocket launcher. The Inventory system is designed to make you think about what your doing and to plan ahead.
As far as the controls, this is NOT Call of Duty!! You do not Circle Strafe and jump shoot in real life so Do NOT expect to do this in a Simulator.
I'm glad the controls are this way cause I'm tired of fantasy shooting games and I much prefer the realness of the DayZ shooting mechanics.
DayZ is fun and an excellent game but it's for the Hardcore or Core gamer. So all the complaints you hear about DayZ only comes from the CASUAL GAMERS and we DO NOT need another Casual Game experience.
Go play Dead Island, Call of Duty Zombie mode or whatever and leave DayZ to us Core Gamers.
Think you got DayZ Bandit Murder Skills? Sniping Newbies in Elctro or Cherno is for Lames!! Hit the Russian Night Servers for some DayZ War in the North Combat where the Real action is at.
I really wish the flashlight worked, the night levels are nearly unplayable because of that.

Dayz is a hell of game, beats most so'called AAA games & its only in alpha(& a mod).
With every update the game gets better, every time i log in you have no idea what awaits you & the joy of finding that tin of beans when your starving beats the feeling i get when from finishing most short ass easy games they bring out these days.
I really hope dean gets the support he needs to make all his plans come true for this game & i really hope the crybabies don't ruin it for us all
