EuroGamer Dead or Alive 5 Preview: Team Ninja Hits Back

EuroGamer: "The question is, can Dead or Alive 5 go toe-to-toe with the heavy hitters on the big screen - or should it stick to the bikinis and volleyballs?

Having spent some time with an expanded demo, it's clear that Team Ninja is sticking it what it does best - crafting a solid fighting framework that marries fast-paced action and executional accessibility with a counter-heavy twist." (Dead or Alive 5, PS3, Xbox 360)

looking forward to see how this turns out. Loved the 4th title on Xbox, but it corrupted my save game when I'd almost won all the outfits. Hope a similar issue doesn't pop up in this one.

Cloud saves will eradicate such worries. Not sure of the specifics, but I believe both systems now support it.

Didn't even know they were going to use that. If they are, then that's great - no more hours wasted to get all the outfits just to find everything is gone the next time you start the game :D.

Despite what people say, Dead or Alive 5 has always had a deep combat system. It may not be as deep as Virtua Fighter, but it is a lot deeper than Tekken. Pretty much you come for the jiggle and stay for the combat system.

its a clone of vf and tekken has both beat in depth. DOA really has more than vf in some areas

I really hope this game has a good interesting story mode this time.. It looks beautiful & with some new modes, good story, & balanced combat, team ninja might make a solid game since that cool dude left.. DOA chicks w bouncing boobies is always eye candy & fun to play....

@Jetlian
In terms of history, Tekken and DOA are both clones of VF. I have to disagree that Tekken has both beat when it comes to depth.

sucks you ran out of bubs.Tekken is a 3d fighter like VF and thats it. Tekken's layout is 4 attack buttons vs 2 in vf and doa. Not only that tekken is the only 1 of the 3 with a full ground game!

You fall in tekken you may not get back up. It like mma vs tournament rules. MMA you fall the fight keeps going in MA tourney you can land a hit on the ground then ref stands you back up and that vf. Hell even ringouts cost a point just like in tournaments

Reason I said doa has more depth than vf in certain areas is everyone has 4 counters.Some characters have multi throws. VF has 1 3 hit throw from lei-fei and its not really a throw. Stages also play more a part in doa.
