It's quite a good sale for a new IP even with small advertisement campaign.what i'm really concerned about the gameplay there are lags when you are doing melee attacks.despite all of this I still enjoyed the game though since combat is much better than overhyped Skyrim.
1 million doesn't seem anywhere near enough for a sequel imo. Perhaps Capcom didn't spend as much on it for development or something that they can afford a sequel after just 1 million units sold? The game had a lot of depth, but graphically it look quite terrible, so if anything, I hope they improve that.
A sequel was annouced weeks ago and it's clear they focused on giving gamers a game with great gameplay and good graphics rather than a pretty game with terrible gameplay.
I am glad it sold well now hopefully we will get a true sequel hat won't have all the generic issues
It's funny how capcom thought this game could sell 10 plus million and compete with skyrim lol
While DG does few things really well some of its parts are just plain boring, dull and generic take towns you travel and story for example. Here is hoping the sequel fixes some of the issues and improve on everything else
Better story Better populated towns Better fast travel system More voice actors for people in town, it seems like they had 8-10 people do all voices Better side mission Improv graphics
Combat is awesome now make it even better Day and night system works well More awesome boss battles
Well for a game that requires so much back tracking a fast travel system s a MUST IMO. And stop pressing disagree fellows you know my pros and cons are the same as reviewers. I know this game is a good game 7/10 but the sequel shuld improve on a lot of what the 1st did right and wrong.
i like lack of fast travel. it forces u to explore more. maybe they could allow more port crystals. but i think we get the port crystal at a good enough time.
also i'd like to see some weather, that would be pretty nice
"Well for a game that requires so much back tracking a fast travel system s a MUST IMO"
Now frickin' way ... they better not listen to that . There are enough was between stones and portcrystals to moves around . it would be a massive dumb down to makes travelling easier
And you guys are beating that 10 millions dead horse still ? It was just a wish from the enthusiast director , never an estimate or serious .
The real few estimates from capcom were always 1 million from japan , and 1.5 worldwide . So far those goals arent farfetched .
You must have bought the ps3 version of skyrim as it has been known a long time its unstable. The 360 and pc is where skyrim should be played and they should not release a ps3 version if the system or developers can't handle the game port.
Thank you for speaking the truth about Skyrim's voice acting. I swear that there are endless examples of being in a room with a few different NPC's talking to each other, and half the time 2 of them have the same voice as each other.
@Jazz4108: Skyrim was unstable all around. But in order of severity from least to worst it was 360, PC, PS3. But don't pretend like it had no problems on the other platforms because it did.
I loved the game, despite its flaws, poor performance/choppy framerates, terribly annoying dialog and jaggies. It was a well thought out game with its core gameplay excellent.
this game would really benefit by going to pc immensely.
just the jump in resolution to 1080p and 8x anti aliasing would make this game look a whole gen better, then add in 60 frames per second, some true hdr real time lighting, ssao, ect...ect.... and we would have the game as its really meant to be
Dragon's Dogma was the first in a line of three RPG's I've played the past couple of months and I must say that it surely left an impression. I was really surprised how fun and innovative the Pawn- and the (Changeable) Class-system are. The Pawn system has real potential and it made me dream of future Online RPG's. Something like a MMO\Offline RPG hybrid?!!
I don't know why there are so many people complaining about framerate and poor performance for DD, I never experience any of that except in the Griffin battle. Now the textures and shadow. That's where the REAL problem is.
For the sequel, I would request the following.
An option to actually turn off the Pawns speech, or tweaking it so that they will not repeat the same information over and over. Anyone who has walked around hills knows what I mean. They keep talking about it being a good vantage point for ranged attacks. Once is enough thanks.
Some kind of mount so that you don't have to run everywhere if they don't intend on implementing a real fast travel. This would solve the problem of lengthy treks and still keep the pawns learning system a vital part of the game.
Fix the camera when you're climbing on a giant enemy. I hate pushing up and instead going down because of the camera angle.
More towns. Seriously. DD only had 2 real town to speak of. That isn't enough.
Swimming. Seriously. Swimming. You don't even have to make it to be something you use for exploration, but if your pawn falls in the water and can't get out you lose it and that's unacceptable.
If you're going to have 9 ranks for each skill, make DP A LOT easier to get, or the requirements to gain a rank lower. It takes FOREVER to get from rank 8 to rank 9. I don't understand why DP is a fraction of EXP anyway.
Allow us to make more than one character even if we have to keep the same main pawn. It sucks that you have to delete your character to make a new one. Maybe you want to start as a Mystic Knight instead of changing your Ranger into one. I hated being forced to have only one character due to the Pawn system.
There are a lot more things I would want, but that's enough for now. DD is an excellent game and I'll definitely get its sequel.
-Coop (The Pawn system is fine, but they are well beyond stupid) -Stable framerate (While fighting the Ur Dragon and other big guys) -Change the climbing camera to give the player full control -If I choose to not have a shield in hand, let me have 6 sword skills, and give the warrior the ability to equip 6 skills -Make the game less 'archer required' some classes can not even hit enemies (Ur Dragon Wings, Metal Golems, Lich's), mainly Warrior and Fighter, and most flying enemies take no damage from magic, making Assassin the only class for the game almost.
I know everyone is saying the game needs a better story, I disagree, the story was very good, it just needs better storytelling.
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS:
Dragon's being the Arisen that failed is a very cool twist
END SPOILERS
All in all, great game, but they do need some tweaks, Pawns are cool, but give us the option of coop, the game is already set up for it... But just keep the Pawns in place, and don't make the game suffer due to having coop... Make it like Dead Rising 2's.
No wonder why it has sold only 1.05 million units. Game is probably great, but people don't support Capcom anymore. Why? Look at their DLC and re-versioning policy...
I hate this game. Its my opinion and i fkin hate it. ONly thing that was cool was the combat but im glad sega is making money so they can continue to produce crap games and destroy the classics. Lost planet 1 was nice
It has dragons so i skipped its the most obvious fantasy beast milky cop out in gaming, lets make a medievil game swords check dragons check now cast some magic and find a princess lol.
Few have both this gen...

Fast travel doesn't need to be changed, it was perfectly implemented in DD, you get it late enough that you'll have explored most of the world anyway.
Now frickin' way ... they better not listen to that . There are enough was between stones and portcrystals to moves around . it would be a massive dumb down to makes travelling easier

I agree with the travel system but where it not for my need to find shortcuts, I'd have missed out on a lot of exploration and quest areas.

I own the PC version and the game was highly unstable. You're telling me the 360 version was better than the PC version?
The game had issues across the board dude...only the most critical were on PS3..
