Xbox Live Dashboard Beta Pictures and info

Some of our readers are emailing us that the Xbox Live Dashboard Beta that we reported on yesterday is now live. One of the readers who wants to remain anonymous, was kind enough to send in pictures of the beta. They mentioned that dashboard navigation feels faster. The Zune section has been rebranded to the Xbox Music section which looks like a beta of its own.

It just puzzles me...The first 360 dashboard looks NOTHING like the one we have today. Why is it that Microsoft has done so many overhauls and revamps on their dashboard while Sony's XMB looks pretty much the same to the way it was back when they launched the PS3?

Don't get me wrong, the XMB is a good fast snappy interface, but changes here and there would be welcomed, such as trimming the in-game XMB to a smaller size to make it load faster.

Xbox live is all software. Xmb is built in the ps3 hardware.

XMB is just a copy of media center for PC. MS can make changes to the UI because they have the money, and they take customer feedback seriously.

OT: I'm loving it so far. IE is amazingly good. Very fast, intuitive and it looks fantastic. Just as good/easy to use as it is on a laptop or pc or phone. And the pin option is great. Kudos to MS.

I just wish more sites were html5. It's a pain to try watching videos on many sites. Most the tech based sites are fine, but porn and anime are tough, lol

surprisingly, the ie browser on the 360 is very slick and quite fast. the pins work really well, and I love how the games selection on the dashboard load up instantly now.

For me, it is. The selections definitely load up faster, almost instantly rather than getting that circulating double circle cursor.

It's a great thing for Xbox owners. Now if only Sony would optimize the PS3 one for a better experiencd. It works, but not nearly as well as it should. Oh well, time will tell. Congrats.

once again microsoft beats sony at something they been doin for years. come on sony wtf first you let them steal the motion thunder with kinect now you let them beat your browser with this.sony honestly needs some different people workin in some places.

I was thinking of picking up an xbox 360 console together with Halo 4 but this Halo 4 console bundle is too expensive at 270 pounds.

I hope microsoft create a bundle of halo 4 with a 4GB xbox 360 slim costing 160 pounds, i am sure a lot of people will buy it at launch including me

Your forgetting Halo 4 multiplayer requires, what I believe was, 8 Gb of hard drive space. A console that can't play the game it comes with would be a slap in the face to all who bought the console.

you can get an old 20 gb microsoft hard drive for about 15$ or lower. take it apart with a t6 screw driver, put it in the slim, problem solved.

Yes the Pins feature makes it easy to find your games :)

and the marketplace got a revamp too.

*IE runs silky smooth and with a chatpad its amazing

*tested it out and the JavaScript/HTML5 Gameboy color emulator works on IE though VERY slowly but its proof of concept.

*Pins are amazing

*Game Library loads up almost instantly now

Overall this is a great update.
