Female Characters: Gender in Video Games

GenGAME: "Should gender-neutral characters count as 'strong females'? Ripley (the first Alien) probably could have been a dude with little change. Or is it instead the holy grail of character creation?" (3DS, Beyond Good & Evil, Beyond Good & Evil HD, Metroid Fusion, Metroid: Zero Mission, New Super Mario Bros. 2, PC, PS3, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Wii, Xbox 360)

@ article- strength, heroics etc. are in the mentality of the character, not the physical traits. there are plenty of badass, strong, brave female characters with feminine traits in games (e.g. lara croft, nariko, Kat 'gravity rush' etc.) to just name a few.

@xperia- Ditto! it's up there with some of my most anticipated games : D
