To say that the zombie apocalypse genre has been done to death, excuse the pun, would be the grossest understatement of the century. From movies such as Dawn of the Dead in all its incarnations, to Day of the Dead, all of the Evil Dead movies, Planet Terror, 28 Days Later, 28 WEEKS Later, the list goes on and on. And this is only talking about movies. When it comes to video games we have the OG and grand-daddy of them all in the Resident Evil franchise whose success triggered a mass flood on the market, ushering in a zombie game apocalypse of its own with Dead Island, the Dead Rising series, the Dead Space series, House of the Dead series, and the Left4Dead series. Zombies have even been able to crawl their way into an E for Everyone game in Plants vs Zombies. Many on this list are decent to great games but I could never understand everyone’s infatuation with zombies. I own and enjoy some of these titles listed, but never has my excitement reached the fever pitch that many people seem to have when concerning this genre. For me, it is mostly a lukewarm, “Meh.” But every once in a blue moon there comes along a combination so delicious, so delectable, it’s like pixie dust mixed with Jessica Chobot’s tears. And that, my friends, is Lollipop Chainsaw. 5/5
