Tony Hawk's HD sells 120K in first week on XBLA

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD, the latest installment and the first downloadable title in the arcade skateboarding series, sold approximately 120,000 copies in its first week on sale, developer Robomodo has told Gamasutra. (Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD, Xbox 360)

Not bad...
... for a lazy clunky buggy HD-port...

It's a real shame they didn't just do a proper quality HD port of Tony Hawk 2x.

I just Realized there hasn't been a single skateboard game released in like 6 years. Probably contributed to sales of said "lazy clunky buggy HD-port..."

you realised wrong.

Skate 1 & 2 says hi

The reason we havent seen any skateboarding games lately is because we were over-saturated with them in the years past. Tony Hawk was Activisions CoD before, well before CoD. Personnaly Im looking forward to this when it hits PSN in the coming weeks, hopefully with a PSN+ discount. I just hope its as great as i remember.

@gatormatt They took out mostly all of the good features so don't expect it to even be close to the original.

Skate 1, Skate 2, and Skate 3. All around better skateboarding game.

Meh I think Skate's a pain in the ass. It balances simulation and arcadiness so expertly as to never allow the player to have fun.

I'm not surprised. Microsoft has been on fire with the timed exclusive content recently. I know a ton of people who would have went with the PS3 version, since it was originally a PS1 game, but since the Xbox 360 version came out so much sooner, that is the one they ended up going with.

I know people complain about it, but timed DLC is a great weapon in the battle of consoles.

Get real, yeah Ill admit, I've been waiting on this game ever since I heard about it, but I have so many games on the ps3, (not including any of the exclusives), that even if I had a 360 I would get it on the ps3 anyways just so I could game share it with my kids.

But now people wanna talk numbers, wait till this game is released on the psn. It would be a safe bet to say that the ps3 will hit those numbers, if not surpass them the first week. Wanna know why? Cause everyone, and I mean everyone who is a fan of the franchise had to have a ps1 to even give two shits about this game. There's tons of skate games out too btw. So really these numbers are far from impressive. I was expecting the xbox fans to buy this game out of spite, but it looks like the 10 million + paid xbl members could really care less.

40+ million paid XBL Gold members.

1) You're assuming that everyone with a PS1 bought a PS3, a good number of PS1/PS2 players went to 360 this gen.
2) You're ignoring that the game was also released on N64, you didn't have to have the PS1 version to "give two shits about the game."

I see timed exclusive being cheap. I understand console exclusive stuff but timed exclusive games and DLC?
Especially that one game that is coming out later on that Bungie is making that will come out on Xbox first then 1 year later on Playstation which seems really cheap.

i bought the game and i like playing it with the dpad and its extremely tough to play with the old 360 controller...ill come back to the game when i get one of those new controllers with the new dpad
thebudgetgamer  +   1032d ago
I'm gonna wait till it hits PS3 as I believe it's better played with a dualshock.
attilayavuzer  +   1032d ago
That's a lot of disappointed gamers...

or gamers who are fans and simply don't care how good or bad the game is.. must be some die hard fans though because the reviews are mostly discouraging.

i hope Deadlight and Dust sell as well.
