it sorta makes sense to release the new sku's with a rumble controller. i already have one and the difference it makes is crazy. warhawk especially takes advantage of this

what the heck is wrong with Sony. The 80gb didn't sell as well as the 40 because the price is too high. So what do they do? They release another sku with an even higher price point. I hope this isn't true. Just stick to the 40gb Sony. Let people upgrade the hdd on their own. Unless they release a version with PS2 backwards compatibility.

@ above,

the 80 gig version has more then backwards compatibility...
i personally would never get a 40 gig console unless they released it with all the features of the 80 gig, 2 usb slots is no were near enough for me, and i also use the other features on the 80gig

I never debated one having more backwards compatibility than the other. I stated the price point for the 80 was so high that most just opted for the 40. My statement in regards to backwards compatibly was that unless Sony releases a System with bc and drops the 40 down to 299 (the original 60gb is what I was thinking) then there's no sense releasing another sku with a bigger hdd. And you are BY FAR in the minority with the whole USB slot thing. Most people are not using nor needing more than two at any one given time.

Bottom line: I'm glad YOU use the 80 and enjoy the 80. The article isn't that Sony is releasing a new sku and discontinuing the 80 because you didn't like it.

It's about people in general. 80gb is not selling and, again, it makes no sense to release yet another sku with a bigger hdd when it's not going sell if it's priced as high as the 80.

i only hope sony dont start thinking they can release new sku's to boost sales when ever they like, 2 is fine but wer already upto 4 thats crazy

mikeslemonade3469d ago

Yea but atleast Sony is consistent by just increasing HDD and really the the only things they messed with is BC and memory slots and arguably those aren't needed. This 100+GB PS3 is just an upgrade because Sony doesn't want to pack in Motorstorm with 80gb because they obviously did a deal with the Motorstorm developers and Motorstorm 2 iscoming out. And you can't go wrong with buying any PS3 sku because the core functionality still exist unlike the 360. The xbox 360 has like 7 versions and 4 of those versions are rip offs:
Core component, Core HDMI, Arcade HDMI,
Premium component, Premium HDMI, Premium Halo Edition
Elite

The price point better be consistent. If they raise the price just for a bigger hard drive that's ridiculous. You can get a pretty good 250gb drive for about $150. That's what I did, was a breeze to install. Plus you can also import a DS3 for about 65 dollars. My guess is that when DS3 is released here it will be $60

Sony is sticking to the 2 available console thing. It's not like you can find the 4 SKU's in a Gamestop at the moment.

I can't wait for the DS3, getting sick of no rumble in CoD4..

nightfallinicedearth3469d ago

I have the dual shock 3 and CoD4 doesn't support rumble for some reason.

-EvoAnubis-3469d ago

Honestly, what more do I have to say? Well, I will say that you can find them cheaper.

Frances-the-Mute3469d ago

wow, i have that exact same one, except this one is $90 cheaper then when i bought it. lol

Frances-the-Mute3469d ago

I'm looking foward the dual shock 3, but since the controller is roughly around the same price as a game, i'll take a game instead and wait for a time when there isn't to much games being released, or i'll just hope i'll get it for my b-day!
