Beyond: Two Souls' Bold Vision

EDGE- Near the end of the presentation for his new game, Beyond: Two Souls, David Cage pauses to reflect on his place in the game industry. “When I come to E3, I feel like I live in a different world. I want to provoke and explore emotions. I believe there is an audience for what I do.”

If Cage has learned one thing as a designer, it’s to stick to his vision. His studio’s previous effort, Heavy Rain, split critics down the middle with its adult-themed ‘no game over’ storytelling and gestural controls. Some found it exhilarating, others found it tedious, but Cage believes player data tells the real story of Heavy Rain’s success. (Beyond: Two Souls, PS3)
