Valve’s Gabe Newell discusses the frontiers of gaming (interview)

Gabe Newell is the chief executive and co-founder of Valve, the award-winning game publisher and creator of the Steam digital distribution service for games. He is one of the visionaries of the game business, and his predictions carry a lot of weight. There is plenty of speculation about the odd projects that Valve undertakes, and Newell took some time yesterday to explain some of them and talk about some of the cool and weird things coming in the future. Wait, what?

"I think that Windows 8 is kind of a catastrophe for everybody in the PC space."

He also said that the PS3 is a waste of time and Sony should stop production and call back every system.

He might have done some nice things in gaming but sometimes he really sais the stupidest things imaginable.

Idk why he would say that about PS3 when PS3 has some of the best quality exclusives.

I don't know why he said it either but that was about 5 years ago.

@ NYC_Gamer

I know he did but that is not the point. I'm pretty sure he will apologize for this one too as Windows 8 turns out to be a good OS (if).

The point is, he jumps the gun too quickly and makes remarks about things that are just taking off the ground.

What he is talking about is the attempts at closing the PC platform down. When it comes to gaming M$ has been trying to do that for years. Games for Windows Live was an attempt that. It failed horribly, but it hasn't stopped them from trying.

When it comes to PC gaming, M$ has a pretty checkered past.

I love you Gabe.

I'm glad it's taking so long HL3,and that they're being so secretive about it, it makes the whole thing feel special and something to look forward to and be excited about the game in future.
