Or maybe they just find it puzzling Since Darksiders was a far better game than Skyward Sword. I was really disappointed with the last Zelda. Just my opinion but the Zelda franchise needs an overhaul
It's their own fault for making a game that is similar to one of the most popular franchises on this friggin' planet. Also, I find the whole "we don't do this or that better, because that's not our main focus" complete bullshit.
Bad Company 2 had vehicle physics and handling that could rival any racing game on the market. However, Bad Company 2 is a shooter, not a racing game.
If you know you can do something just as good as (or perhaps even better than...) your competition, then why not do it?
Strange comment from the dev. I played Darksiders, and it was the best 'Zelda like' experience I've had in a long time. Far better than Nintendo's recent efforts.
Can't wait for more 'Zelda like' gaming in Darksiders 2 on Day 1.
Still don't get the comparison. There's a few gameplay elements borrowed here and there. The clawshot and targeting. The "dungeons". That's pretty much it.
War actually speaks in his games...hell, all of the characters speak. No ridiculous lines of text floating across the screen.
The combat in Darksiders destroys that of any Zelda title.
Darksiders plot actually makes sense.
Darksiders is more of an amalgamation of various action titles that came before it. When you have a franchise that's as old as Zelda, of course you'll find elements of that game in others, but it's completely unfair to call Darksiders a Zelda clone because of the clawshot and what? Horse riding?
I don't understand why it is "Bad" to think it as a clone, but at the same time it is understandable.
For me I grew up with Zelda, and its still one of the best franchises I know (Maybe because of nostalgia, I dunno).
So what if some mechanics and gameplay were copied, the storytelling, the art, music, characters and the plot is still very nicely done wich makes it an unique game.
They are even adding more RPG elements to the second one and ++.
Copying mechanics and ideas is not bad if done properly when adding things that will make it their own thing and feeling.
UGGGH I really wanna buy this game and get into the series. The concept is so cool, but I'm a huge skeptic and hard to get me into new Ip's. Should I take the plunge?
"Referencing, yeah, absolutely. I can see that. But when it definitely feels like remarks are derogatory and basically saying, 'Well, it's just this'. I never understand when people say it's just like God of War."
>He said about Zelda:
"Well, the word 'derivative' is always used in the article. If anyone says it's like the games that you talked about, of course, anything like that we see as a compliment. But it's a curse as well because they see it as, like, you haven't really done anything to earn that. Everyone has seen [Zelda]. Why isn't everyone else doing it? People have tried to do things like that but they've completely failed at it.
The reason I want to play it is because it is "like" Zelda.
I don't believe that it is a Zelda "Clone" or a rip off, but that they used some of the core Zelda sensibilities to make something "NEW".
Not only that but from what I read it is a good franchise.
I hope it sells well enough for a third and fourth game to be made.

But I preferred it to Skyward Sword, and have become jaded with the Zelda games since Wind Waker.
