Google’s Gem: Android

Google has been responsible for many innovations in recent past, however, a decade prior no one could have predicted the reach that the company would attain in the search engine, industry, mobile, and tech markets collectively. (Google, Industry, Mobile, Tech)

Google really needs to get their mobile supporters on to a standard of features and hardware. Android phones are so all over the map I fear it eventually is going to hurt them more than help them. I love my HTC Evo so dont think I am a hater.

No thanks!
Choice and variety of hardware are the main reasons why I love android!

Phones with HD amoled screens, HD ips screens, physical keyboards, small phones, big phones, phones with single, dual and quad core CPU, and even a phone with slide out gamepad!

What I really want is Google forcing OEMs to update their phones faster.

Fragmentation really one the developers and techies who are looking for the latest updates.

Most average user don't know what version android they are running nor do they care.

The Android OS is a complete mess.

Splintering your operating system creates a type of consumer segregation where not everyone is getting the best possible experience. Android is sloppy all around.

That's complete garbage, it may be different OS versions, but they exist to maximize the usability of each product and small upgrade. Like Ubuntu has a 6 month release cycle, but OS's from years ago still are 100% compatible with current 12.04 version.

Plus, who are you going to go with besides Google? Apple? Your phone will be cut off in 6 months because the new one came out, not even because of hardware or anything, only because you haven't contributed a ton of money most recently. RIM? Not much there, and so many more different phones with much bigger problems with compatibility than Android.

Android isn't the best at everything, but it's the best thing out there over all without a doubt. I'd like for you to find a more tightly made OS for phones. You won't. And the splintering of your OS you're talking about doesn't exist, all Android phones have special port that run the SAME APPS. You're an idiot if you think because there's so many supported devices there's a big segregation of users. You apparently don't know how computers and dynamic display resolution in apps work.

That's why there's the Ice Cream Sandwhich OS. It's a universal OS that can be used on everything from tabs, tvs, to consoles if they really wanted to. Screw ginger bread, and all the previous android OS.
